Much like the games that inspired Metal Eden, the fast-paced first-person shooter features a handful of weapons you can collect throughout the journey. Unlike the demo preview, which gave access to three weapons, the full game allows players to check out more of them.
Each of these weapons serves a single purpose – to eviscerate enemies standing between you and your objective. So, here are all the weapons available in Metal Eden, and what they do.
Every Weapon You Can Get in Metal Eden
In Metal Eden, you start with a single weapon that you’ll be going back to even in the end-game. Further into the game, you’ll start collecting more weapons, allowing you to take out your opponents in cooler ways.
1. Hertz AP
Hertz AP is the default weapon you start the game with. It is the bread-and-butter of Metal Eden, and the standard submachine gun with infinite ammo. Hertz AP has a good range, allowing you to shoot almost everything from a distance without any problem. Furthermore, upgrading it to decrease its overheating and damage really makes it the go-to weapon even halfway into the game.
Outside of its overheating problems, Hertz AP is pretty reliable during the crowd control situations where you have to shoot a lot of enemies. I couldn’t find any flaws with Hertz AP, and happily suggest everyone playing Metal Eden to use this gun as a fallback weapon. Seriously, it sticks with you till the end in almost every situation.
2. U9 Supra
U9 Supra is the handcannon almost every first-person shooter game has, and the first weapon you find in-game. It looks like a magnum, but it packs enough punch that it can take out the early-game mobs effortlessly with one headshot. U9 Supra is especially handy against the flying drones, helping you to take them down without any problem in Metal Eden.
The gun, however, doesn’t perform as intended against mobs standing at a distance, forcing you to either close in on the enemy or waste ammo to take them down. You can upgrade it later as either a charged laser pistol that does great damage or a guided bullet pistol that tracks and hits enemies. Post upgrade, U9 Supra becomes a solid weapon to switch back to during the encounters.
3. TAS-9
TAS-9 is the shotgun of Metal Eden, and somehow one of my least favorite guns in-game. It packs quite a punch to take out the bigger enemies with only a few bullets. While that might sound nice, the shotgun is only ever useful when you are near them. The game generally punishes you when you are either near the enemy or when you stop dodging and moving.
Hence, when you use the TAS-9 to damage the enemies, chances are you will almost always take damage from them. Furthermore, the shotgun doesn’t feel good to use over time, unlike most fast-paced first-person shooters, where shotguns generally pack a punch and feel great to use.
4. EZN-5
EZN-5 is arguably one of the most important guns introduced within the first two hours of the game. It also quickly becomes one of the most important gameplay systems of Metal Eden. EZN-5 is an energy weapon that will rip the shields apart from the mobs. This makes the gun the ultimate go-to weapon for the game, as you will predominantly encounter mobs with shields.
EZN-5 can either be upgraded with a secondary fire that freezes opponents in their place. Alternatively, it can shoot a plasma bomb, damaging people around the place. EZN-5 is a mandatory weapon for any Metal Eden playthrough and will easily become a favorite.
5. Zenit SMG
Zenit SMG is a replacement for the U9 Supra Submachine gun, and a rather weird addition to Metal Eden, because there is already a gun doing its job. Much like the Supra, it is a Submachine gun that shoots slower bullets and does more damage than the stock Supra. Unfortunately, the gun’s stock features are not useful when you upgrade the U9 Supra.
Where Zenit SMG really shines is when you upgrade it and turn it into a dedicated sniper for its secondary fire. Making it into one will instantly allow you to one-shot kill most of the mobs with a well-placed headshot. Otherwise, stick to an upgraded Hertz AP for doing stock Zenit SMG’s work.
6. RM3
RM3 is possibly one of the strongest weapons in-game, and the second-last weapon you acquire in Metal Eden. It is an eleven-bullet grenade launcher, which at point-blank or from a distance will blow the mobs to smithereens. RM3 is also one of the most satisfying guns in the sense that one well-placed grenade shot will take out multiple enemies in a group.
It can be upgraded into a sticky grenade, which I don’t find much use for, since I like running and gunning around quite a bit. Its alternate upgrade turns it into a shockwave gun, which can also slow down enemies upon further upgrades. Still, even without any upgrades, RM3 stands up on its own without any help.
7. Striga HS-V
Striga HS-V is the last weapon you receive in Metal Eden, and a close-range alternative to the EZN-5 plasma rifle. This is also an energy weapon, which means you’ll be switching between this and EZN-5 quite a lot when dealing with the mobs. The main difference between this and EZN-5 comes down to the range. Striga HS-V requires you to be near the enemy, and when you are, it will quickly shred the enemy armor.
Striga HS-V can be upgraded into a railgun that shoots a powerful bolt of lightning or a ball of lightning, injuring every enemy. Striga HS-V has quickly become my second go-to weapon for the close-range fights against the IAC mobs that spawn with a huge amount of armor.
The good thing about Metal Eden is that within the first two hours, you’ll get your hands on all of the weapons the game has to offer. So, you won’t have to hunt for them, and enjoy the chaotic fast-paced first-person shooting experience.
