Artifact Guide Persona 5: The Phantom X

In Persona 5 The Phantom X, all of your characters will require gear to help scale some of their stats. Artifact sets are one of the more important methods to upgrade all of your characters’ stats. Artifacts depend on the Arcana cards, which are further divided into Revelations cards and Universal cards. This guide will break down everything there is to know about Artifacts in Persona 5 The Phantom X.

How Artifact Sets Work in Persona 5 The Phantom X

The gear in Persona 5 The Phantom X are dubbed as Artifact sets, and these can help change the character stats of any character that has these gear sets equipped. Artifact sets can be obtained via Arcana cards, which are broadly classified into Revelation cards and Universal cards. You can first start using these cards at around level 35, and you need to learn the differences within each card type.

How to Get and Use Revelation Cards

Revelation cards come in 4 different types with 4 different main stats, namely:

    • Sun – Flat HP
    • Moon – Increases Attack, Defense, HP, Healing Effectiveness, and Damage Bonus percentage.
    • Star – Increases Attack, Defense, HP, Critical Rate, Critical Damage, Effect Hit Rate percentages.
    • Planet – Increases Attack, Defense, HP, Speed, SP Regen percentages.

While you do get a chance encounter with Revelation cards after level 35, you can really start farming them after level 60 or 70. That is when you get a higher chance of obtaining Gold tier Revelation cards, which offer much better stat boosts. To farm Revelation cards, you need to clear out dungeons, purchase them from event shops, or even get them from guild raids. There is a rare chance that you might obtain them from Battle Passes, but the above methods work better to farm Revelation cards.

Adding similar Revelation cards will unlock sets, and they can be either 2-piece, or 4-piece sets. If you don’t have the same Revelation cards, you can also mix and match to get different bonuses, though they won’t be as strong as having a full set. Cards can further be upgraded via the Cards section under the Bag, and the higher the rarity of the card, the more you can upgrade them using spare materials and cards.

Determining Revelation Card Stats and Effects

Revelation cards will only have one Main Stat and 4 Sub-Stats, which is determined by several factors.

    • Besides the Sun card, all other cards will be allocated random Main Stat when obtained.
    • Alongside the Main Stat, you can also roll for 4 additional sub-stats.
    • The sub stat’s maximum number depends on the rarity of the card.
    • Any card that has lower than 4 sub-stat will get a random new sub-stat when the card is upgraded to level 5.
    • Cards that have 4 sub-stats will have a random stat increased at level 5. The increase is also random.
    • If you are worried whether a card will have two or more of the same sub-stat, rest assured that it won’t be possible.
    • Sub-stats and Main-Stats will always be different for each card.
    • Revelation Cards and Universal Cards have a separate sub-stat pool that is different from other cards.

How to Get and Use Universal Cards

Universal Cards can be regarded as complementary cards to the Revelation cards. If you have a complete 4-piece set of a Revelation card, you can add on a Universal card to gain a bonus effect. Universal cards can be obtained from event shops, battle passes, and guild raids. Once equipped, they offer 3 different effects that complement the 4-piece Revelation card sets.

These effects also correspond with the different types of the Revelation cards, and accordingly the effects of the Universal card will activate. The three effects that can be triggered are:

    • Harmony Effect: Triggers a damage bonus increase by 10%, applies to all allies who have the same element. Applies only once.
    • Trust Effect: Increases all party members’ attack by 10% at the start of battle. Only triggers once.
    • Growth Effect: Increases the cap stack up to 5 for the Attack buff.

In short, Universal Cards only work on improving the attack and defense stats of the characters that equip them. Upgrading the stats on these cards works the same as Revelation Cards, and it is much easier to do so since they have fixed Main Stats.

How to Determine Arcana Cards for Characters

Each character comes with pre-determined card sets that can be viewed once you select a character and press the Recommended Set tab at the bottom. While this does offer a sort of guideline to what completed Arcana Card set will go with certain characters, you can definitely use up cards that you see is best for them.

That way, once you complete a Revelation Card set with the appropriate Universal Card, you get the completed Arcana set that acts as the finished Artifact gear for said character. Since there is a lot more to learn in Persona 5 The Phantom X, our guides on The Best Units To Reroll For, How To Get Your Favorite Character, and Best Team Builds can help you out.
