Persona 5 The Phantom X functions the same as other gacha games, but according to many fans, the game is a bit lenient when it comes to its gacha mechanics. Both currencies for the gacha system can be earned in-game or bought with real money. Here we will explain the gacha system and the contract banner in Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Unlocking Characters and Gacha System Explained Persona 5: The Phantom X

You unlock characters by getting Character Contract banners. You get Contract Banners by converting either Meta Jewels or Cognition Crystal into a Ticket.
- Meta Jewels can be gained by finishing Story missions, events, and more in-game play.
- Cognition Crystals are premium currency; you must buy them with real money.
You need to have 150 Meta Jewels or Cognition Crystal to create a 1 Platinum or Gold Ticket.
But to get a Weapon Contract, you will need around 100 Meta Jewels or Cognition Crystal currency to form 1 Platinum Milicoin. Platinum or Gold Tickets can be invested in Limited-time or Newcomer Character Contracts, and Platinum Milicoin can be used for Weapon Contracts.
Contract Banner Explained

Here we are dealing with four different types of contract banners. Each one will be specific with its own RNG mechanics and a Pity System:
- Limited-time Character Contract banners
- Standard Character Contract Banners
- Newcomer Contract Banners
- Weapon Contract Banners
Limited-time Character Contract Banners
Limited-time Character Contract Banner features promotional characters that will have a limited time attached to them. The very first time you get a five-star contract from a Limited-Time banner, you will have a whopping 50% chance to receive in-demand characters such as Panther or Joker. Here is the gacha mechanics behind the Limited-time Character Contract Banners.
- 93% Chance for a 2-star Character
- 6.2% Chance for a 4-star Character
- 0.8% Chance for a 5-Star Character
Pity System for Limited-time Character Contract Banners:
For Limited-time Character Contract Banners, 80 Pulls guarantees a 5-Star character (Hard Pity), while 10 pulls can deliver a 4-Star or higher level character (Soft Pity).
Standard Character Contract Banners
Same principles as the Limited-time Character Contract Banner, but without the promotional or Most Wanted characters. The gacha rates for the Standard Character Contract Banners stay the same as the other ones.
- 93% Chance for a 2-star Character
- 6.2% Chance for a 4-star Character
- 0.8% Chance for a 5-Star Character
Pity System for Standard Character Contract Banners:
80 Pulls guarantees a 5-Star character (Hard Pity) while 10 pulls can deliver a 4-Star or higher level character(Soft Pity). But you can unlock Ryuji Sakamoto, Morgana, Ann Takamaki, Yaoling Li, and Haruna Nishimori after drawing 300 contracts.
Newcomer Contract Banner
Here, you must pay 8 Gold Tickets to draw 10 contracts instead of the regular 10 Gold Tickets. Newcomer Contract Banner doesn’t come with its own Pity System like the rest of the contract banner list. Here are the gacha rates for the Newcomer Contract Banner:
- 93% Chance for a 2-star Character
- 6.2% Chance for a 4-star Character
- 0.8% Chance for a 5-Star Character
Getting over 10 pulls will guarantee a 4-Star or higher level character drop. Drawing over 50 Contracts will allow you to unlock these 5-Star characters: Ryuji Sakamoto, Morgana, and Ann Takamaki.
Weapon Contract Banners
The weapon contract banner works almost the same as the other contact banners, but the gacha rates will be a tiny bit different.
- 91.2% Chance for a 3-star Weapon
- 8% Chance for a 4-star Weapon
- 0.8% Chance for a 5-Star Weapon
Pity System for Weapon Contract Banners:
Getting a 70 pull guarantees a 5-Star Weapon drop (Hard Pity), and 10 pulls can deliver a 4-Star or higher level weapon (Soft Pity).
Tips for Contract Pulling
- Instead of wasting Meta Jewels or Cognition Crystal on normal Character Banners, you can think about investing them in the Limited-time Character Contract Banner to get the best value per pull.
- Keep track of the pity counter for the 5-star drop. Always take advantage of the Pity System by doing 10 pulls instead of one.
- Add your chosen weapon to the first slot to raise the chances. The first slot will have a 50% chance to drop, while the other two will have around 25%.
- While you can spend real-life money to get the Cognition Crystals (Premium Currency), you always have the option to get the Meta Jewels, which also act as a premium currency.
