Nine-tailed Fox is one of the toughest bosses in the game, it has plenty of deadly combos with one-hit ending attacks that come out at the end of the first phase. At the same time, the boss also has moves that we can deflect by using proper Parry. Here we are going to look at the best way to defeat the Nine-tailed Fox in Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade.

    Weapon Choice For the Battle:

Primarily, I used the combo of Crimson Autumn and Nameless Blade to take out the Nine-tailed Fox many times. The combo of both these weapons is exceptional when it comes to damage and AOE attacks. Since one weapon can take advantage of another weapon’s ability, even if it is holstered, even my base attacks from Nameless Blade triggered the AOE flame ability of the Crimson Autumn.

Boss Fight Yasha Legends of the Demon Blade

The Nine-tailed Fox can be a brutal fight; the best tip here is to spend the first few minutes observing his moves and patterns before attacking him. Only then will you be able to pick up the moves, as some of the moves can be parried. We would be relying on Parry to take us to the end of the fight. The boss has two phases, most of the attacks stay the same, with the addition of a few deadly ones.

    Nine-tailed Fox Attacks:

Claw swipes: The most basic of its moves, the fox will try to swipe at you with its claws. The best way to deal with this attack is by dashing or an Iai charge to the head. The latter move is a bit risky, but if you can pull it off, you will do the damage and get away from the attack.

A single claw attack most times gets a follow-up second claw swipe. You must again perform a dash or an Iai charge to get away. It is by far the simplest move by Nine-Tail Fox; standing in front of the fox is a sure way to get clawed to the face.

Projectile Rain: The fox will release a barrage of energy balls all around your location. Here, the best course of action will be to dash away from the location. Make sure to save enough dashes to run away from the projectiles raining down on you. Running away does work, but it is always better not to take the risk when you are the final boss.

This attack most times gets followed by a leap slam attack, where the fox will leap in the air and slam on the ground. A simple dash will help you get away from this attack.

    parry Nine Tail Fox Yasha

AOE Slam (Parry): Here, the Nine-tailed Fox will slam the ground, leaving five expanding AOE circles that deal a good amount of damage, getting caught in the circle could leave you in a bad condition. The best thing about this attack is that it can be parried. Whenever you see the fox lifting one of its hands for the AOE Slam attack, charge your weapon and get ready for the golden circle to appear around the fox’s claws. Release the charge, and you will deal a healthy amount of damage.

Mid-air sweep (Parry): The fox will fly to the side of the screen and try to do a sweep maneuver at your location while in the air. You can easily spot this attack, as the fox will take around 2 to 3 seconds to perform the move. The second you see the fox leaping into the air, hold the charge and parry it. You can perform both Mystic Artes and Iai charges to parry this attack.

After taking down all of its health, a cutscene will trigger, where the Nine-tailed Fox will launch to the platform on the side. You will see 6 or 7 spears on the ground, all sending power to the boss. While we can’t reach the fox, we sure can take out all the spears planted on the ground.

Note: Make sure to do it quickly, or you will be too late to do anything. Use the Dash Light Heavy Combo to take out the spears as fast as possible. If you fail, the cutscene will trigger where the Nine-tailed will launch a small glow orb that will kill you instantly.

Nine-tailed Fox Boss Fight: Second Phase

    Nine Tail Second Phase Yasha

The second phase follows the same attacks as the first phase. But with a few differences, that you need to look out for:

Doppelganger Slam: The energy projectile attack will follow with two leaps and a slam move. Here, the boss will release a doppelganger of itself and try to slam you twice. You need to dash once for the actual boss’s Slam and then again for the Doppelganger follow-up attack.

Claw Combo (parry): A series of claw strikes that is as deadly as it looks. It is very easy to get in front of the crossfire. The best thing to do here is to parry it. Again, like most Nine-tailed Fox attacks, this attack will give you a 2 or 3-second build-up. Quickly perform an Iai charge or Mystic Artes to counter its attack and put it down.

Laser attack: This is by far the deadliest Nine-tailed Fox move during the second phase. Time and time again, the fox will plant a trap on the ground. If you step on those traps, nothing will happen; you can’t hit them to destroy them. All you can do is wait. After planting a few of them, the fox will spew lasers out of them.

It ain’t going to happen all at once, it will get activated sequentially. Each trap will release lasers in all four directions. Here, you need to get to the corner of the trap to avoid the laser line of sight.

You don’t have to change your game plan too much for the second phase against the Nine-tailed Fox; just wait for the parryable attacks mentioned in the article, and you will easily beat the fox. One simple advice would be to reserve at least one Dash bar to get away from the enemy’s attack.
