Marvel Rivals is taking the game to another level by introducing new heroes, game modes and maps in the Season 1: Eternal Night update. Besides having Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman added to the game, there’s also an interesting new challenge called “Recursive Destruction“. Here’s a guide to Recursive Destruction and how you can easily complete this challenge.

Recursive Destruction: About The New Mechanic

For now, only the Midtown Map has the new mechanic added to it. This town was plunged into darkness with a blood moon highlighting its red sky.

Recursive Destruction allows you to interact with the battlefield and make the fight more interesting. You’ll have to push the convoy to the mentioned location on this map. You can also be a defender and have the objective of stopping the enemy team from reaching the end.

The path of this convoy has all kinds of buildings and other structures around it. You’ll have to use any of your hero’s attacks to break these structures down by using Chrono Vision. Using the B Key on the Keyboard or Right D-Pad on Console will trigger Chrono Vision which you can then use to spot the places that you need to mess up.

The idea behind this mechanic is to add new cover locations, make the fight harder for the enemy team by eliminating hiding places, or simply confuse the opponent. You’ll have to complete all 3/3 Recursive Destruction Challenge on the Midtown Map. You can specifically choose to have a Quick Match in Midtown by selecting it in the Quick Match options.

To trigger Recursive Destruction in the Midtown Map, you’ll have to attack the places highlighted in the Chrono vision.

Wait for the enemy team to get the convoy past the first checkpoint. After that, start using your Chrono Vision to see the items/walls/bridges that need to be broken. They’ll appear Red or Yellow while you’re using the Chrono Vision. Once you spot these places, start shooting at them till they completely change shape.

The game will automatically repair these places once you completely break them down. Most of the breakable objects or buildings are in the third portion of the Midtown Map. Objects that glow yellow in Chrono Vision will fall apart and return to their previous form after a few minutes. Objects that glow red won’t return to their previous forms.

Some places where you can cause Recursive Destruction are the broken buildings near the second checkpoint, and the area inside the station near the first checkpoint.

While you can use any superhero to trigger Recursive Destruction, it’s best to use long-range heavy hitters. They can easily focus on destroying the surroundings while also handling enemies from a distance. You can go for strong superheroes like Hulk or The Punisher to quickly break down the stuff for you. Other Vanguards and Duelists can also be good at breaking down those areas.

If your team successfully breaks down an area, you’ll get the benefits too. Instead of just focusing on causing Recursive Destruction, try to take down enemies and then destroy those areas using the Chrono Vision whenever you have the chance. This way, you’ll complete the challenge without any deaths.

The newest season also brings Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman to the already impressive roster. Do check our guides on how best to play these superheroes in the game.
