The deeper into the game you go, the more complex the puzzles seem to be. This might be the feeling when you finally reach the Tower of Nicholas V while exploring the Vatican. You need to solve two puzzles here, one to unlock the secret door in the tower, and the other to unlock the warrior giant’s tomb. Both of these puzzles might seem intimidating from the start, but with this handy guide, we will show you how to quickly solve it in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Sacred Wounds Puzzle Location
The Sacred Wounds puzzle falls under the Stolen Cat Mummy main story quest. As you reach the Tower of Nicholas V, you will encounter a mural puzzle to solve first. Make your way down to the lower floor to find a chapel and an altar ahead. There is a golden bowl in front of the altar, pour the wine that you received from Father Antonio in it. The mural behind the altar will start to shift and a rounded panel will pop out.
To solve the mural puzzle, you need to rotate the wheel so that St. Michael is above the devil. Doing it correctly will reveal the passage to the Underworld. Follow the path underground and beyond the gate is where you can find the Sacred Wounds puzzle.
How To Solve The Sacred Wounds Puzzle
You will find the statue of Jesus on a cross right in front of you, and a golden bowl in front of him. Pour the wine into the bowl and 5 levers will appear all around the statue; two next to his arms, two next to his legs, and one against his torso. You will also find numbers on each of the lever panels from 1 to 4. Your goal here is to push the lever next to each body part to the correct number.
There are 4 portraits of Jesus all around the room, and one hidden mural of the Spear of Longinus. These are going to be your clues to the puzzle.
- You can find two of the portraits on either side of the Jesus statue, and one more on the left side room.
- There is a passage when you enter the left side room that will take you to a secret room where the Spear of Longinus mural is.
- The final portrait can be found once you squeeze through the crack in the wall on the right side of the puzzle room.
- You can take photos of each portrait to get hints on what you need to do here, or just follow the steps below.
- Head over to the Walking on Water portrait on the right side of the Jesus statue and pour the wine into the golden bowl.
- Investigate the portrait and you will spot that the right leg has a golden circle around it.
- Read the number that appears on the golden bowl, then make your way back to the Jesus statue.
- Push the lever on the right leg of the statue to the number 3.
- Next, head over to the portrait of the Holy Chalice on the left side of the statue, move the stone bust on the basin and pour the wine.
- You need to push the lever on the left hand of the Jesus statue to number 2.
- Make your way to the left side room to find the portrait of the Body of Christ and pour the wine into the basin.
- Now, move the lever on the right hand of the statue to the number 2.
- After that, head back inside the left side room and enter the passage on the left to find the Spear of Longinus.
- Pour the wine into the final bowl, then pick up the heavy weapon leaning against the wall and break the wall on the left to exit the room.
- Then, head back to the puzzle area and move the lever near the chest to number 3.
- Next, squeeze your way through the crack on the right side wall of the puzzle area to find the Anointment of Jesus portrait. Repeat the steps of pouring the wine and finding the highlighted body part.
- To exit the room, pull the chain beside the gate to unlock it.
- Push the lever on the left foot to number 4.
In short, the puzzle solution is 2 for both hands, 3 for the torso, 3 for the right foot and 4 for the left foot.
