You will first come across He Youzai at Reverent Temple Shrine. After your first encounter, the quest will begin. In the game, you will encounter He Youzai multiple times. Each time, He Youzai will reward you with some bonus items. To earn the rewards from He Youzai, you must grant him specific items and quests. Here is a complete guide to all the locations of He Youzai and his quest details.
We highly recommend that you complete Fango Yao’s storyline, as she serves a critical role in He Youzai’s questline.
First He Youzai Location | Reverent Temple shrine
Head to the outskirts of the Reverent Temple. You will come across a mysterious man wearing a gold robe next to the Reverent Temple shrine, near the riverbank. Upon your first interaction, he will mention the state of your arm. He will give you a Bamboo Lantern and Cornucopia Elixir and ask you to seek advice from the boatman about the Feathering disease.
Second He Youzai Location | Bandit Camp Shrine | Recover the Lost Package
Lost Package Location: Travel to Buddha Cliff, get down the ladder, and get inside the cave below. Defeat the enemies in the cave, near the cave’s exit, you will find the Lost Package (pink-colored item) near the bamboo trees.
Grab the Lost Package and hand it over to He Youzai at Doomwillow Beach to complete the quest. You will receive Records of the Southern Archipelago and Pirate Armor Set (Pirate Armor, Boots, Bracers, Hairpin) as a reward.
Third He Youzai Location | Reverent Temple | Defeat Honglan
Make your way back to Reverent Temple after slaying Honglan, and you will find He Youzai. Here, choose the option to tell him about the Emperor’s palace to earn Everblend brew x1 and Cured Jerky x1 as rewards. You will soon learn that He Youzai is heading towards Cloudspire.

Fourth He Youzai Location | Snowpeak Pass Shrine
Get inside the fort or settlement near the Snowpeak Pass Shrine. Once inside, cross the wooden bridge on the right to gain access to the house with the pinwheel in the front. You will find the He Youzai in the building. Once inside, talk to He Youzai, and he will ask you to head to Snowfall Palace and hand you the Cornucopia Elixir as a reward.
Fifth He Youzai Location | Bride’s Boudoir Shrine
Requirement:
- Research Notes Scrap # 1: Defeating Huang Yan, the Mistress of the Night
- Mad Doctor’s Note: Defeating Mad Doctor at the lower level of the Shaft Entrance.
After you defeat Huang Yan, you will receive Research Notes Scrap #1. Now travel to Bride’s Boudoir Shrine, and you will find the He Youzai near the location. Show him the research notes and Mad Doctor’s Research Notes. After handing over the notes, you will receive Cured Jerky and be recommended to head to Bai Mansion.
Sixth He Youzai Location | Mt. Zhenwu Refugee Camp
After the Battlefield Pass Area, you will find He Youzai near the Refugee Camp, to the side of the long ladder. You will also see Fang Yao next to He Youzai if you have completed the questline. Here, just talk to He Youzai to progress the quest.

Seventh He Youzai Location | Bai Mansion
After defeating Zhang Xianzhong, you will make your way to the Ferry Overlook Shrine. Follow the path to the docks and take the boat to Bai Mansion, and you will quickly find He Youzai left of the shrine. Talk to him and you will receive the Cornucopia Elixir.
Note: Don’t talk to Storyteller, or you will get to Chapter 4, locking out some areas. After defeating the boss in the Altar Gate room, proceed to the storyteller found outside the cave. If you accidentally talked to Storyteller, just choose Reject to be on the safe side.
Eight He Youzai Location | Bai Mansion
Requirement: Defeating Bai Kru
While at the Bai Mansion, you will face an optional boss, Bai Kru. Here, you can summon He Youzai to help you in the battle. Defeating the boss will reward you with Research Journal Scrap #2. Talk to He Youzai and show him the research journal to get Cured Jerky. After completing everything at Bai Mansion, talk to the storyteller to head to Chapter 4.
Ninth He Youzai Location | Worship’s Rise in Ruins Annalum
Once you are in Annalum, you will find He Youzai along with Feng Yao outside the building. Talk to He Youzai, exhaust the dialogues to receive Cornucopia Elixir, and he will direct you to the Reverent Temple
Tenth He Youzai Meeting | Worship’s Rise Reverent Temple
Requirement: Fang Yao questline – Research Journal Scrap #3
Get inside the Reverent Temple, find He Youzai, and talk to him. When he asks you about the symbol in his hand, reply with Not Really. Now show him the Research Journal Scrap #3, received from Fang Yao. You will receive the Ring of Samsara (Don’t consume, save it for the ending)
Final He Youzai Meeting | Bo Capital Capital Entrance Shrine
You will find He Youzai for the last time by the slope across from the Capital Entrance Shrine. Here, you will get Twirl the Pinwheel emote and the Belled Pinwheel item. That’s the last time you see of him. Taking a rest at the shrine will make him disappear.
