Once you reach the Projection Room after finding out what happened at the Monolith, you have to attend a special meeting with Agatha and Professor Hermann. But you will find that things are a bit different, as Professor Hermann is tied and duct-taped to a chair. Agatha’s projection will hover over him, and she makes an important argument in favor of killing him.
When she does appear in front of you, she will have a gun that you can pick up to shoot him, if you wish to go down that path. So, the choice comes on you; should you kill or spare Professor Hermann?
Choice 1: Kill Professor Hermann
If you agree with what Agatha has to say, then you will realize that Hermann is trying to trap you and get you killed. You can choose to take the gun and shoot him point blank, thus ending his life. He will not appear for the rest of the story, and you won’t gain anything from his death.
As your reward, Agatha will promise a life of convenience, provided you tell her who is out to stop the experiment. There is another small choice to make here, but it won’t matter whether you tell her what you know or don’t, as she will plan to use you to gather whatever she requires.
Choice 2: Spare Professor Hermann
If you choose to spare Hermann, he will be set free, and he will also thank you for keeping him alive. Agatha will not stop you if you make this choice, so Hermann is free to leave the room. The rest of the scenario plays out the same, and you can continue with the rest of the quest normally.
Which Option Should You Pick
Since your choice does not have a consequence here, you can choose either option when deciding Hermann’s fate. There are no rewards for your choice, and it is unclear whether he will appear as an aid or ally later on.
