The Gravship has been newly added to the RimWorld Odyssey DLC, and you can use this structure as your base while docked at a planet or to explore space. But first, you need to build the ideal Gravship by collecting all the right parts for it. Plus, you also need to know how to prepare yourself to head out into space using your new Gravship. This guide will cover how to build and use the ideal Gravship in RimWorld Odyssey.
How to Get a Gravship in RimWorld

Once you have downloaded and activated the Odyssey DLC for RimWorld, there are two methods you can try to get the Gravship. The first method is to go for the Gravship scenario, which gives you just the Grav engine and the central structure for the ship along with two thrusters. This gives you a base model to start building and customizing the rest of the Gravship.
The second method is to play the game normally till you get a quest to investigate a fallen Grav engine. But, you need to collect the rest of the base, which takes even longer to acquire a full Gravship this way. The Gravship is a great way to evade enemies while on other planets, so it is best to get a partially built Gravship rather than start from scratch.
How to Use a Gravship
The Gravship is a mobile base that can be used while you are docked on a planet. You can use it to travel around the orbit and journey through space more efficiently using this vehicle. The Gravship requires Chemfuel to run, which is doable if you have already installed a couple of Chemfuel generators by now.
Also, when you select the engine, you will notice a circular parameter appearing around it. This is your build area, and you can build your rooms and structures within this boundary. Using the build radius, you can customize how you want your Gravship to look. Now, let’s get on with the materials required to build the rest of your Gravship.
Building Materials for the Gravship

The first and most important crafting material required to build the flooring for the Gravship is the Gravlite Panel. There are several ways to get Gravlite Panels, including looting and crafting them. While looting them from external sites can prove quite dangerous, you can also craft them after unlocking the required tech from the Research Lab’s tech tree.
Just search for the Advanced Grav tech from here, which will be unlockable after you are done researching the Standard Gravtech and Fabrication. Then, gather 5x Vacstones and 1x Plasteel to craft 1x Gravlite Panels. If this seems too much to do, then you can also complete certain quests that offer Gravlite Panels for a short term. You can do this till you can gather enough raw materials to start crafting them yourself.
How to Supply Power
Supplying adequate power to your ship is one of the more crucial components here. Luckily, simple solar panels work in space and locally, so you can have a couple of them installed around your base. You can also install a couple of batteries around to store power and use it during emergencies. Chemfuel power generators can also work on your ship to power it up, plus it can be turned off when not required.
How to Use the Gravship in Space

Since you will be entering a vacuum while you are out in space, you need to protect your crew by crafting Vacsuits. The Orbital Tech from the research tree will supply whatever you require to counter vacuums in space, which includes the suit and the Vacsuit helmet. This is the easiest way to bypass the vacuum created by space, otherwise you need to build special walls, doors, and oxygen supply to keep your team well maintained.
To counter the risk of vacuums getting through your ship, you can craft the Gravship Wall and Vac Barriers to substitute your existing walls and doors. That way, anyone without a suit will not face the fear of being decompressed while in space. This is also a great way to regulate the temperature inside your ship while you are out in the freezing temperatures of space.
Beside this, you also require the Oxygen Pump for a steady supply of oxygen for your team. You need to place this in every room for it to be effective. Heaters can also be placed to fight out the cold temperatures, but isn’t required if you have the Vacsuit equipped.
Building Thrusters for Movement

There are two types of Thrusters available. You got the small thruster and the large thruster, and both of them require different crafting materials. The small thrusters just require steel and components, while the large thrusters need Space Rock. Space Rock is the hardest to get, since this can only be found in space.
The max number of thrusters you can install are four of the small and six of the bigger ones. The more thrusters you install, the further you can go. This depends on the amount of Chemfuel your Gravship has. Also, while installing the thrusters, make sure there are no obstructions blocking the end of it, or it will hamper movement and flow of these structures.
Obtaining Gravcores and Grav Anchor

Gravcores are a unique items that are only obtained through quests, and once you get it, you can unlock and build the Grav Field Extender. You can find the Grav Field Extender under the Basic Gravtech research block. With this, your external building radius of your ship can be expanded, helping you create more space and build more structures.
The Grav Anchor is required if you wish to come back to a map that you were previously in. Once you leave a planet with your ship, the planet will be destroyed. Under the Basic Gravtech section in your research tree, you will see that you also get the Grav Anchor. You can craft and place the anchor anywhere outside your ship, and this will prevent the local map from being destroyed.
