Facing a difficult boss fight at the start of any game when you are just getting into the rhythm of things can be quite taxing. In Path of Exile 2, you face Asinia in Act 1 itself, and this one has tested ours and a lot of other players’ patience. The AOE attacks mixed with deadly swings might not seem much but the constant barrage of these moves can drain your health pool in an instant. Here in this guide, we have put up for you all of Asinia’s attacks and the tactics you can use to save yourself from them.
Asinia, The Praetor’s Consort Boss Overview
Here are the basic details of Asinia’s boss in Path of Exile 2.
- Location: Act 1, Tomb of the Consort
- Weakness: None
- Resistances: Cold and Physical
- Damage Dealings: Fire and Physical
- Debuff Details: Hinder and Ignite
Asinia also has different phases, each phase introduces a new attack that you must be ready to dodge. Once you near the end of her health bar, she will hit you with everything, so follow the tactics listed below to stay out of her attacks.
Asinia First Phase Attacks
The fight will start off quite easy, here are most of the attack patterns you will deal with during the first
Attack #1 Melee Swings
Attack Details: Nothing special, she will swing her sickle at you, if you attack her on the front. It does decent damage, and not avoiding it will be a disaster especially later in the boss fight.
Tactic: When she swings her sickle, quickly dodge diagonally to her side. You must dodge and then hit Asinia. Don’t get greedy and try hitting twice, or else you will get caught in Asinia’s melee swings. You just have a few seconds to hit and the same rule applies for dodging as well.
Attack #2 AOE Fire Damage Circles
Attack Details: A circle of fire will emerge out of the ground at your current location in the area. She will perform 2o r 3 of these fire circles but the last fire circle will be larger and cover more ground.
Tactic: Avoid attacking and run around the map, the last thing you want to do is to get caught in the AOE fire range and see yourself getting burned by the fire. Always be on the run when she spawns the fire circles on the ground and dodges the last one since it covers a larger spot compared to the initial circles.
Asinia Second Phase Attacks
Once you bring her health down to 70%, she will resort to other brutal attacks, at the same time continuing the attacks from the first phase.
Attack #3 Bone Cage Fire Attack
Attack Details: Here Asinia will surround you with a circle of bone thorns and will unleash a rain of fire on the circle. Suffice it to say, that staying inside the thorn circle will be a bad idea.
Tactic: Here use your attack to break the thorn circle or bone cage and quickly get out of it, the last thing you want is to be caught in the meteoric fire rain.
Asinia Third Phase Attacks
Here we will see an accumulation of every attack listed before but with brand new deadly attacks to serve as a cherry on the cake. Compared to the previous attacks, the new ones hit like a truck, so you do not want to be caught anywhere near them when they land.
Attack #4 Homing Flaming Skulls
Attack Details: She will charge up for a second and release dozens of fireballs at you. Asinia often resorts to this attack right after the Meteor Fire rain or Fire Circle attack.
Tactic: A quick dodge to the side will do the trick easily. So if you see the homing fire missiles coming right at you, just quickly dodge out of the way and avoid hitting her.
Attack #5 Summoning a Clone Deraven’s Aid
Attack Details: Here Asinia will summon a clone of her that will swing at you once and disappear by releasing spirit projectiles in the area. If you are closer to the clone, then the spirit projectile has a higher chance of hitting you.
Tactic: it is best to be farther away from the clone, where the space between one projectile and another will be large enough to save you from taking any damage. It will be easier for ranged or mage class but if you are going for a warrior, it will be better if you resort to blocking than attacking when you see the clone in the area.
The key in this fight is patience and whittling away her health slowly, and not rushing in to attack. Use a few brief seconds in between her attacks to attack, and constantly avoid the attacks as mentioned above, especially in the later stages where becoming too greedy with attacks will easily cost your life.
Reward: Once you defeat Asinia, you will get randomized loot and a Memorial Key piece for the Sorrow Among Stone, the fourth quest for Act 1 in Path of Exile 2.
