How To Level Up Fast & Farm XP in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake

Like most RPG games, your main priority in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is to level up your character and parties to tackle tougher enemies along the way. The only way you can get stronger is to find ways to farm XP, and the only way you can do that is to defeat enemies. In this guide, we have put up how to farm XP and level up fast in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.

Best EXP Farming Spots in Dragon Quest 3 Remake

The fastest way to level up in Dragon Quest 3 Remake is to farm enemy kills in specific locations for early, mid and end-game. There are tons of monster spawns in the overworld, and killing each of them will give you varying amounts of XP. But there are some spawn locations that offer better monsters to kill, and below are some of the best spots to check out.

Early To Mid Game XP Farming Spot – Tower of Transcendence

Once you reach mid-game, you can reach the Tower of Transcendence and farm XP by defeating the enemies inside. To reach the Tower of Transcendence, just head north from Alltrades Abbey. You would have reached Alltrades Abbey if you are looking to change your party vocation, class, and so on. Also, you would want to head over to the Tower of Transcendence to collect the Words of Wisdom and unlock the Sage vocation.

Once inside the Tower of Transcendence, head up the stairs on the top left corner of the map, on floor 1F. You will reach the next floor, walk across the tightrope and go down the stairs on the east side. You will find a portal right in front of the stairs after you reach the bottom. Get inside the portal and take the stairs up that are on the right side. Once you reach the next floor, head south and go up the stairs here. Keep going up till you reach the top of the tower and explore the room to find Metal Slimes and other monsters.

This is one of the best spots available to farm Metal Slimes, which can easily give you around 4000 XP, but the other monsters in the area can also give you around 1000 XP easily.

    Late Game XP Farming Spots

Once you reach the later stages of Dragon Quest 3 Remake, this is where you will end up farming a lot more XP than usual. You will find that most enemies can drop anywhere between 20,000 to 40,000 XP, so any late game area is a great way to grind for power. The best monsters to look out for that will give you the XP you desire are Liquid Slimes. These creatures appear around Rimuldar, Baramos’s Castle, Zoma’s Citadel, and Citadel Tower. They don’t have fixed spawn points, and they are extremely rare to find. But once found and defeated, you can collect up to 40,000 XP in one go.

Another area you can check out is the forest north of Cantlin. You can access this area after acquiring a Ship, which you can get after you complete the questline for the King of Portoga. After reaching the town of Cantlin, just head north and enter the forest. Deep inside the forest are some Muddy Hands enemies, and they have a chance to respawn if you don’t defeat all the hands in a single fight. If you continue to farm this way, you can get up to 100,000 XP in a single battle by repeatedly spawning Muddy Hands.

There is also a chance that the Muddy Hands might summon other creatures to help them, adding extra XP to your grind.

XP Farming Tips and Tricks for Dragon Quest 3 Remake

    • You can change the difficulty to Draky Quest so you won’t die during a fight, and this can help you grind during enemy battles more efficiently.
    • If you have pre-ordered Dragon Quest 3 Remake, then you would probably be in possession of the Elevating Shoes item. Equip this item to farm additional XP on top of the XP you will get from defeating enemies.

While the monsters in Dragon Quest 3 Remake are meant for farming XP and gain loot, you can also capture them to add them to your collection. We have a guide specifying all available monsters and how to catch them in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, so do check that out to know more.
