With each step of the way, you are left to solve more puzzles and figure out clues to help you complete certain quests and side quests. There is a hidden quest that you can pick up while exploring Sukhothai called A Study in Fear, and there is an elaborate puzzle to solve as part of the quest. If you feel stuck or are unsure how to progress, this guide will help you out. In this guide, we show you how to solve the Demon’s Tomb puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
How To Solve The Demon’s Tomb Puzzle (Sealed Sarcophagus)
Solving the Demon’s Tomb Puzzle, or the Sealed Sarcophagus puzzle in ‘A Study In Fear’ quest has the following steps:
- Collect the Cross and Diamond Key
- Solve each of the 3 pedestals
- Insert keys in the central pedestal
When you first enter, you will see a central pedestal surrounded by three demon statues, and three other pedestals that have 4 spinning wheels each. Solving each pedestal will have one of the three demons around the central pedestal drop. Once the central pedestal is free, you can then move to the next stage.
The tools that you have for now are the ‘Circle Key’ and the ‘Cross and Circle Key’ that you have already collected. As you may have guessed, there is a third key to get, so let’s do that first.
Collecting The Cross and Diamond Key
The Cross and Diamond Key is located at the top of the chamber. If you keep moving around for a bit, Annika will ask you to look over to the Bird’s Nest – that is where the key is located. To get the key, do the following:
- Use the grapple point shown in the image above. Grab the ledge, and once you traverse to the right, if you look up, there will be another grapple point to your right.
- Use that grapple point, climb up, and jump across to the next platform. There will be a grapple point straight ahead from an overhanging branch, use that to jump over to the other side.
- Traverse on the ledge toward your left, and you will see a shiny object on the platform below to your left – which is where you need to jump down, and grab the Cross and Diamond key.
Collect The Ancient Relic
While you are here, you should collect the Ancient Relic before progressing on the main quest. This is how you do it:
- Approach the closed demon door with the two levers next to it. On the right lever, if you look up, there is a grapple point.
- Use that to climb up. Next, you will see a grapple point on an overhead branch that will help you cross to the other side. There is an Ancient Relic, pick that up.
With that out of the way, let’s get to solving each of the three pedestals.
How Do Each Of The Pedestals Work?
The objective here is to align all symbols in a straight line on each of the pedestals using the above three keys. Each pedestal has 4 spinning wheels, and each wheel has 2 same symbols. One wheel has 2 circles, the other has 2 diamonds, and so on. When you insert any of the three keys, some of these wheels will stop spinning.
- The Cross and Diamond Key stops two wheels: the ones that have a Cross and Diamond symbol.
- The Cross and Circle Key stops two wheels: the ones that have a Cross and Circle symbol.
- The Circle Key stops one wheel: the one with the Circle symbol.
So put any key, get the symbols to align, and as soon as they do that, quickly remove the key. While there are a lot of ways to solve this, to simplify this, we have put up the solution that worked for us.
- Pedestal A: Use the Cross and Diamond Key, once the symbols align then use the Cross and Circle Key; and finally the Circle Key.
- Pedestal B: Use the Cross and Circle Key, and then the Circle Key.
- Pedestal C: Use the Cross and Diamond Key, and then the Cross and Circle Key to complete the puzzle.
Once completed, all the statues surrounding the central pedestal submerge, and you can approach it to place the keys. Put the
- Circle Key on the left
- Cross and Circle Key in the middle
- Cross and Diamond Key on the right.
With this, the central pedestal also submerges to reveal a lever. Push the lever, and the demon head statue straight ahead opens up to reveal the idol of Yaksha and moves the ‘A Study In Fear’ quest further ahead.
You will also unlock A Study in Fear trophy/achievement at the end of the quest. This isn’t all the puzzle you will encounter in Sukhothai, as you can solve the Hidden Gate puzzle or the Path of Tigers puzzle by following our guides.
