Mario Kart World is now available for Switch 2 users, and you can meet some familiar faces as you race along the tracks with your friends. There are tons of new maps to explore, new quests to pick up, and new enemies zip past. There is a secret level called Rainbow Road, but unlocking it will require a couple of prerequisites to be met. This guide will explain how to unlock the Rainbow Road in Mario Kart World.
Unlocking Rainbow Road in Mario Kart World

The Rainbow Road isn’t available from the get go, as you need to run through several courses and complete them before this option is available. Luckily, getting this secret road to unlock is quite simple. Just follow the steps below so you can finally get this unique map to play on.
- Head into either Singleplayer or Multiplayer mode and select the Grand Prix.
- Under this section, you will notice 7 different Cups at the bottom. Select each one and you will get a selection of four different maps.
- Your goal here is to go through all the maps in all the Cups and finish each course.
- It doesn’t matter what rank you get, as long as you complete the entire course before moving on.
- Completing all the maps within all 7 Cups will unlock the secret 8th Cup.
- Select the new Cup, and you can find the new Rainbow Road level available.
- Besides Rainbow Road, you can unlock 3 other courses under the new Cup, namely Acorn Heights, Peach Stadium, and Mario Circuit.
Rainbow Road is much different than the rest of the courses in the game, as you get to zip through the sparkling road in the clouds. The whole racetrack is quite ethereal, but you do need to keep a lookout on the various sharp turns, bends, and gaps while racing through. This course is even more enjoyable with friends, so do make sure you have this track active under multiplayer.
