When Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive launched, I was afraid that I would have to grind insanely hard to recruit Hunters, similar to other gacha games.
To my surprise, this isn’t the case here, and the process of How To Recruit Hunters in Solo Leveling is like a breath of fresh air. Instead of mindlessly tapping away the reroll button, I actually had to spend some quality time trying to find the best approach to collect new Hunters for my roster.
I did have to incur some losses before I could see results in my recruitment process, but hey, that’s the price of learning.
To help you avoid making the same mistakes as me, I’ve taken some time to compile the following guide, which explains How To Recruit Hunters in Solo Leveling, collect Hunter Coins, and all Hunters available in the game.
How To Recruit Hunters in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive Explained

Unlocking all Hunters is possible after completing Chapter 3, but you do get three free Hunters after completing the tutorial: Lee Joohee, Yoo Jinho, and Song Chiyul.
These three are available after unlocking the Hunter’s Guild, which happens as you progress through the main story. They will help fill in your party till you complete Chapter 3 and speak to Lim Hajin inside the main lobby.
Once you speak to Lim, you will find a list of potential Hunters that you could recruit. But the recruitment process in Solo Leveling Arise Overdrive is different. The game does not rely on the traditional gacha system to unlock new Hunters. Rather, you need to farm Hunter Coins and make the highest bid to purchase them.
If your bid is low, the Hunter will refuse your offer, and this will come with the consequence of losing all your bid coins. Each Hunter will offer three attempts to woo them with your coins, and if you fail, then your only option is to wait for the next opportunity to rehire them. It will take 20 minutes for the recruitment screen to refresh with new Hunters.
Getting Hunter Coins
You get to farm Hunter Coins naturally by playing the game. Completing missions and side quests will help you uncover random amounts of Hunter Coins that will get accumulated overtime. But, there are other, more specific ways to collect Hunter Coins, which is detailed below.
Speaking to NPCs

If you want a faster and low-effort method to farm Hunter Coins, while you are at your base, seek out NPCs who have an exclamation mark speech bubbles.
Speaking to them will give you a handful of Hunter Coins, which will range anywhere between 2x to 6x Hunter Coins. This is a great way to kickstart your Hunter Coin collecting very early in the game.
Completing Gate Missions

While at your lobby, interact with the World Map and scroll through the continents to find Gate mission. These missions are a great way to farm Hunter Coins and several other rare crafting materials.
You get to redo these missions on higher difficulties after clearing them the first time. The higher the difficulty, the greater the rewards. Check the Rewards list at the bottom before you load a mission to know what you will get.
Completing Strike Squad Challenges

After Chapter 4, you get to unlock Strike Squad challenges. There are two options that come under them, Gate Dispatch and Bounties.
You might have to shell out a bit of Gold to unlock Gate Dispatch challenges, but completing the missions under them will reward you with items like Hunter Coins. Bounties, on the other hand, act as World Bosses, and defeating them will also give you a large chunk of Hunter Coins.
Using Hunter Coins

To use Hunter Coins, head into the Recruitment menu and select your preferred Hunter. The Recruitment process comes in three levels: Easy, Normal, and Hard. This will determine how easy or difficult it is to recruit the Hunter.
After selection, take a look at the Success Rate of recruitment on the right. The higher the percentage, the easier it gets to recruit. Keep adding Hunter Coins to your bid to improve your chances.
Another way to recruit Hunters is by using Bounty Posters, but obtaining Bounty Posters is extremely rare. Hence, these should be used to recruit a Hunter that is extremely difficult to get via coins.
Changing Characters

Now that you have recruited some new Hunters, you get to change your teammates in co-op play only. If you don’t have a friend to play with, then you will be locked out of this option.
Once you are in the co-op lobby, press the Tab key or click the button at the top right of the screen. If you are mid-battle and wish to switch Hunters, then press the respective number keys to swap.
Solo players do not get the option to switch characters. But it is possible to check whether the dungeon you pick will require a particular character or a team.
While selecting a dungeon, check the icon on the top left of the selected dungeon. If you get a character’s face, then that’s your only option. If you find three characters instead, then this would be a group dungeon run.
