Ghost of Yotei has a set of bounty contracts to trace and defeat, and doing this rewards you with sword kits, masks, armor pieces, and, of course, coins. While most bounty contracts will be found once you reach the location, in the case of the Kubo bounty, all you see when you reach the area is an open vessel with a couple of woodblocks. If you are looking for what it takes to make the Black Night Kubo appear in Ghost of Yotei, we have put up all the details below.
Black Night Kubo In Ghost of Yotei

Wear a black armor set and clap the woodblocks at the Black Night Dueling Ring to make Kubo appear. The black armor set is mandatory, any other colour and Kubo will not appear when you clap the woodblocks. Use the black colour version (Eyes In The Smoke) of the Nine Tail Armor that you should have unlocked by now as part of the main story. (Check here if you are looking for the black dye house in Ghost of Yotei, that should help with this.) Once that is done, you can now pick up the woodblocks next to the dead body and clap them.
This will unlock a cutscene, where Kubo will come and claim that there can only be one Black Night Kubo, mocking you as a pretender. He mistakes you for a challenger who is out to claim the name of Black Night Kubo, just as he had challenged the previous Black Night Kubo to a fight and won, who had done the same to the previous one, and so on.
Proceed to defeat him and get 750 coins and Black Night Kubo’s Mask.
Black Night Kubo Location In Ghost Of Yotei

The exact location of the dueling ring for Black Night Kubo is the Sentinel Forest in Teshio Ridge. The bounty for Kubo is to be picked up at the Red Crane Inn. The bounty notice describes Kubo as ‘A killer dressed in black who haunted Teshio Ridge long before any fox spirit’, with a last seen update at a dueling ring in the Sentinel Forest.
Once you reach the area, you will come across the scene described above. Kubo fights equipped with heavy armor and a spear. This is a good fight to work on your parry skills, as his attacks come reasonably well telegraphed when he lifts his shoulder, arms, and the weapon to attack. Parry this attack and then dish out your own heavy, stagger-building attacks. Keep an eye out for the unblockable red attacks, dodge sideways, and if you are feeling confident, land a quick light attack and then prepare for his next move.
Once you have defeated him, remember to pick the mask and return back to the bounty board to complete the contract.
