The Cult of the Lamb is a challenging rogue-lite and base management game rolled into one. However, the mechanic aroung health bars and replenishing health is like a typical rogue-lite. If you are looking for ways to heal in Cult of the Lamb, we have you covered in this guide.
How To Heal In Cult Of The Lamb
There are no health potions that you can pick up and stock; or a certain fixed no. that spawn everytime you begin a new run. The only way to get health back in Cult of the Lamb is through Red Hearts that may spawn in the chest at the end of each room. These will either partially, or fully replenish your health. In case, by some miracle, you arrive at the room unscathed with full health, you will not be able to stack up the Red Heart for future use in the next room – it can only be used to fill up a health bar that needs filling up!
While this may sound a bit intimidating, that is the whole objective of rogue-lites : to take up a run, learn from defeat, collect a few resources that stay with you for upgrading your character and making you stronger, progressing just a bit more than what you did in your last run, and keep repeating this till you can make it till the very end in that one, final perfect run!
You can use Tarot Cards like The Hearts II and Hearts III that increase the number of Red Hearts that you can unlock from a chest:
- The Hearts II lets you gain an extra heart and is unlocked by defeating Ratoo at Knucklebones.
- The Hearts III lets you gain 2 extra hearts and can be purchased from the Heart Room for a 100 coins
- Soul Snatcher lets you have a 10% chance of healing half a heart equivalent health on defeating an enemy and can be purchased at the Smuggler’s Sanctuary for 50 coins.
Another item that will partially help to heal in Cult of the Lamb is a Blue Heart – consider it a sort of a shield : on taking damage, the blue portion takes a hit first, and only on getting completely wiped out, does the actual health bar start taking a hit on further damage.
As in the case of the Red Heart, there are certain Tarot Cards that can help you increase the number of Blue Hearts that you can unlock from a chest:
- The Lovers II helps you get 2 extra hearts and can be obtained by either performing the Wedding Ritual or selecting to Spare a Loser in the Fight Pit Ritual
You will occasionally also run into a Healing Hut that replenishes full health, but most often these will be found just before a boss fight.
And that is all that there is to how to heal in Cult of the Lamb. Like we said, the game wants you to focus more on avoiding damage and dishing out damage rather than a more measured and passive style of play.
