Baldur’s Gate 3 can be a tricky game to crack with thousands of armor, items, and accessories that you can equip on your characters to boost their stats. The Ring of Protection is a jewelry item you can get in Act 1 of the game, but many players struggle with the exact process.
Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about getting the Ring of Protection in Baldur’s Gate 3. Let’s jump in.
How To Get Ring Of Protection In Baldur’s Gate 3
To get the Ring of Protection, you need to complete a quest called Steal the Sacred Idol in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3. You can get the quest from Tiefling child Mol. It’s a multi-step quest that might seem tricky to complete. Here’s a quick walkthrough to help you get your hands on the Ring of Protection:
Earn Mol’s Trust
The first step of the quest is to earn Mol’s trust. There are a couple of ways to do it, but the quickest one is to save Mirkon and Arabella. This will lead to Mirkon giving you the location and password of the Tifeling children’s hideout.
To save Mirkon:
- Go to the Secluded Cove location north of Druid Grove.
- After you get past the Druid Guards near the entrance, take an immediate left and follow up the northeast path. You’ll soon come across a group of harpies holding Mirkon.
- Defeat them to save him.
When you’re entering the Druid Grove for the first time, you’ll activate a quest called Helping Arabella. You need to find the Druid’s lair and convince Kagha to let Arabella Go.
Once you save Mirkon, head to the cave area and you’ll find a couple of Tiefling children. Talk to Mol, and she will thank you for helping Mirkon.
After helping both of them, you’ll need to find the entrance to the Dragon’s Lair in The Hollow. You’ll have to talk to Domi and ask him where the entrance is. He will open the door for you.
Look for Mol inside the cave and talk to her. She will thank you for saving Mirkon and Arabella. Talk to her again and ask if she needs any help. At this point, she will ask you to steal the Idol of Silvanus from the Druids. That’s when the quest begins.
Investigate Kagha
Now that the quest has officially begun, your goal is to stop Kagha, the same Druid who threatened Arabella earlier. Neutralizing Kagha will stop the Druid’s ritual. Go inside the lair and head to the Servant’s Quarters. Go to the back to find a climbable ledge. You’ll find a locked chest that you can unlock with a Sleight of Hand 10DC check. Read the note inside, which points to a tree in the swamp.
Go to the Putrid Bog location and check the note to find the tree. It’s located near the far south of the area. You’ll trigger a battle with two Wood Woads and a couple of Mud Mephits when you arrive at this location. After defeating the enemies, go to the west side of the stump and use Fire Bolt to burn the vine. You’ll see a crevice holding some evidence against Kagha.
Stealing the Idol
Head back to the Druid’s lair and talk to Kagha. Present your evidence to Rath and use persuasion to convince her she’s wrong. If you’re successful, she will change sides, and you’ll have to fight the Shadow Druids. Defeating them stops the Druid ritual.
Now you can steal the Idol without them attacking the Tiefling. However, stealing the Idol is still not a good idea. Instead, you want to cast the Fog or Darkness spell around the Idol to obscure vision around it. You can also use an Invisibility potion. Have one of your party members grab the Idol and immediately teleport back to your camp. This way, the Druid Guards won’t confront you about stealing the Idol.
Return the Idol
Now that you’ve successfully stolen the Idol, head back to the Dragon’s Lair and turn it over to Mol. In return, she will give you the Ring of Protection.
