You start the game with only one potion, and you have to carry that single potion to the final battle. If luck is on your side, you might get to pick one from the bonus pedals. But mostly, you will have a single potion with a limited amount of healing. Here is how you can get more potions in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
How to Unlock More Potions
- The First Upgrade: You increase your maximum potions by purchasing them from Eris NPC near the Merchant’s home. Early on, you can only upgrade the maximum potions by 1. You can further upgrade the max potions by unlocking Eris’s upgrade tile.
- Extra Potion: Allows a +1 potion.
- Max. Health (x2): Increases maximum health by 10
- Potion Healing(x2): Potions now heal +5.
- Onsen Room: Grants a healing room before the boss room.
- Initial Perk: Get a perk pedestal at the start of the dungeon.
- The Second Upgrade: This one is tied to the The Endless Vault II quest. This requires you to make 50,000 Gold by selling relics to consumers. Once you have done that, a cutscene will trigger, giving you a new recipe that will help Eris expand her potion upgrades.
- Extra Potion: Allows a +1 potion.
- Max. Health (x2): Increases maximum health by 10
- Potion Healing(x2): Potions now heal +5.
- Potion Room: Unlocks a room that grants potions. (Requires 8k Gold/ 6x Oneiric Quartz)
- Onsen Healing: Onsen heals 100% of your health. (12k Gold/ 8x Moon Flower)
- The Third Upgrade: You must complete the Magic Land quest from Eris. Here, you must travel to Aeolia and gather 4x Oneiric Quartz and hand the material over to Eris to unlock the third section or box of potion upgrade.
- Extra Potion: Allows a +1 potion.
- Max. Health (x2): Increases maximum health by 10
- Potion Healing(x2): Potions now heal +5.
- Miniboss Potion: Defeating a miniboss spawns a potion. (12k Gold/ 8x Echo Bond)
- Health Restore: Restore 5 health when you enter a room in the dungeon. (10k Gold/ 10x Oneiric Core)
- The Fourth Upgrade: This part is a WIP. We will add details here as soon as we complete this portion in the game.
Note: There are four boxes of potion upgrade, each box has plenty of potion-related upgrades, from the number to the overall effectiveness. Each one of the four boxes contains one Extra Potion upgrade (allowing you to carry one additional potion). Overall, you will be carrying five potions with you at all times. Not counting the potions you will get randomly in the dungeon run.
Upgrading the potions will require a hefty amount of Gold and Slime Shards. You can get Gold from selling relics and Slime Shards by defeating pink blobs in the Kalina map. After you acquire a good amount of Gold and Slime Shards, you can interact with Eris to upgrade the potion amount, potion healing, or maximum health.
Onsen Room Perks & Upgrades In Moonlighter 2
I highly recommend getting enough Gold to unlock the Onsen Room perk under the potion upgrade screen. You unlock the Onsen Room when upgrading Eris’s potion for the first time. This perk opens up a room just before the boss fight. In this room, you will find a pond where you can enter to recover your health to a specific amount. This Perk is also upgradeable, and this is how you go about doing it.
The second upgrade to the Onsen room is tied to Eris’s second potion upgrade section. This upgrade raises the effectiveness of the Onsen room by 100%.
Since the battles towards the end of the dungeon will get difficult, you will need to upgrade the potions and their usage as quickly as possible to last longer and enough to make it to the end room. Check our other useful tips here for Moonlighter 2.
