In ASKA, figuring out where you have to go to harvest essential resources is one of the main things you need to learn. As you build your Viking settlement from the ground up and gather more villagers, you’ll need to make sure there are enough resources to keep everyone fed, safe, and happy.
While Thatch is one of the less-important resources needed for survival, it’s still necessary to progress in the game. As you get to the later parts of the game, you need it to build roofing, beds, and advanced houses.
Like all resources in the game, Thatch will be in short supply early on. But once you figure out where you can find it, stocking up on it shouldn’t be too difficult.
In this guide, we’ll talk about where you can find Thatch in ASKA so that you never have to worry about running out. Let’s hop in.
How to Find Thatch in ASKA

To get Thatch in ASKA, you need to harvest Reeds. This is the part that confuses most new players. While Thatch is a separate resource, the only way to get it is by harvesting Reeds. Each set of Reeds gives you one Thatch. So the more Reeds you can find, the more Thatch you’ll have in your inventory.
So the big question here is, where do you get Reeds?

Reeds is a location restricted resource which means you can’t get it just anywhere. They grow in large quantities near the sea.
Going back to your Shipwreck where you started the game should give you a fair number of Reeds. Since the worlds are procedurally generated, we can’t give you an exact location. But you can always open up your map and see where your Shipwreck is located.
Alternatively, you can head to any coastal area and look for Reeds near the beach. Use the Scan(Z) button to highlight harvestable resources nearby to make it easier to find them. Once you find some, simply walk up to it, hold the Gather(E) button, and you’ll get one Thatch for each Reeds you pick up.
Though Thatch is only available in specific locations, it’s pretty easy to stock up on them. Besides, the Reeds you harvest grow back after a while, so if you set up your base near the coastal line, you’ll always have access to some every few days. Finding a good water source is much more challenging in this game.
