Since getting a taste of the first installment, Hollow Knight fans would be aware of how challenging the boss fights are likely to be in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and that turns out to be exactly the case. This, of course, makes defeating them that much more pleasing, especially early tough bosses like the Savage Beastfly.
Savage Beastfly Boss Fight Guide In Hollow Knight Silksong

The Savage Beastfly is located at the Chapel of the Beast, and is mostly an airborne enemy. This makes it difficult to hit the boss consistently, plus it deals damage that takes out 2 masks anytime it hits you. Since this boss is exceptionally tanky, you will need to be perfect with those dodges. Let’s take a look at some of the Savage Beastfly’s attack patterns first.
- Sideway Slam: The Savage Beastfly goes horizontally back and forth and slams against either side wall while trying to hit you.
- Vertical Slam: If you spot the Savage Beastfly roll into a ball, it is preparing for a downward slam. This move will easily obliterate you. Keep dodging out of the way when this happens.
- Minion Summon: It will randomly summon a minion that gets in the way of your attacks. Defeat them first to avoid fighting on two fronts, or, best and even more satisfying, lure them under the Beastfly’s slams to get rid of them.
Tips to Beat Savage Beastfly

- Do not hit the cocoon in the boss room before the fight starts and save it for later. Rather, heal and fill up your soul meter before heading inside, then use the cocoon when necessary.
- If you own the Healing Shell Bell, equip it to get a slightly easier time in battle.
- The best way to land some hits is to wait for the Beastfly’s horizontal slam. Jump above the Beastfly to dodge it, then land some hits on it from below. You could also do a light hop and hit it as it passes under you.
- If you are on the ground and the boss charges at you, use the diagonal down swing to get some extra height, then wait till it comes after you again and hit it from below.
- Instead of spamming heal randomly, heal while in the air or wait till the boss starts its vertical slams. After the third slam attack, the boss will momentarily stop, giving you a few seconds to heal.
- Healing will also suspend you in the air temporarily, which is a great way to evade its horizontal attacks when you jump up. The timing here is tricky, though, and my advice is to heal after the vertical slam- that is the best window for you.
- If you are overwhelmed by minions, try to stand near them when the Beastfly enters its vertical slam attack. With the right timing, move away just before it slams down on you, killing all the minions that come in its path.
- Luckily, the Savage Beastfly does get stunned after consistent attacks, which is a great time to deal combo attacks and lower its health further.
Once the fight is over, head into the room on the left to get the Bound the Crest of Beast, which offers the extremely useful life steal ability. The description for this reads: Tear foes with savage slashes. Bind to enter a wild fury and steal life from prey.
The Savage Beastfly is one of the 40 or so bosses that you will be up against in Hollow Knight Silksong, so it is best to be fully conversant with the game mechanics and complete all side quests (like the Berry Picking one) before progressing to the next area.
