Genshin Impact Why Is There A Giant Hot Spring Underground Guide
You face off against the Tyrant of Fire and Iron in the fourth stage of the On the Trail of Behemoths. This guide focuses on how to defeat the boss in Hard and Fearless difficulties, and we also show you which Research topics to focus on if you wish to aim for a 2-star rating.
Best Characters for Team Composition
Since the Tyrant of Fire and Iron deals a lot of Pyro damage, characters who can counter it with Hydro attacks are your best bet. You can use the following characters to create your ideal team composition.
- Main DPS: Neuvillette, Mualani, Mavuika.
- Sub DPS: Xingqiu, Furina, Mona, Nilou, Nahida, Fischl, Mavuika.
- Support: Kazuha, Nahida, Xilonen, Furina, Bennett.
All of these characters can support themselves well in battle, so you shouldn’t have a hard time whether you are in Hard or Fearless difficulty.
Best Research Topics
Research Topics are optional objectives that you can pick before you start the battle. You need to complete your chosen objectives to get a Star rating and claim rewards. If you are aiming for the Gold 2-Star rating, then you must play on Fearless difficulty and pick any 2 of the 4 topics available and complete them. Below are all the topics that you can get, and we will also include the best topics to pick.
Research Topic | Objective |
Environment Enhancement Experiment | All Physical and Elemental RES will be increased on The Tyrant of Fire and Iron as it gets its molten horns hardened. |
Molten Throne | After performing a leaping strike, the affected area will turn into a Molten Throne. The Tyrant of Fire and Iron will regenerate HP the longer it stays within the Molten Throne area. |
Monster Threat Assessment | Increases ATK stats by additional 120% |
Blazing Coronation | The Tyrant of Fire and Iron will absorb the power of lava using its horns to power up Blazing Coronation. This helps repair its horns, as well as drown all characters in the area. The only way to stop the charge is to destroy all the lava crystals in the area. This will also deal DMG to the Tyrant’s horns. |
For the fight, it is best to pick Molten Throne and Blazing Coronation. Or you can switch Molten Throne with Monster Threat Assessment if you wish. Molten Throne will just heal the Tyrant of Fire and Iron, but it will gain no additional buffs. You can use this time while it is within the Molten Throne to deal damage and get it to move out of the area. Blazing Coronation can deal additional damage if you manage to break all the Lava Crystals around the boss. This will require some quick footing to find and destroy the crystals, so stay alert when they appear.
With that said, Monster Threat Assessment will make the fight comparatively harder to handle, but again The Tyrant will receive no additional buffs, so this can be swapped with the others if you wish. Environment Enhancement Experiment is the worst choice to pick, since facing a Tyrant with increased Physical and Elemental resistance will counter most of your character’s attacks.
How To Beat The Tyrant Of Fire And Iron
The Tyrant of Fire and Iron has varying HP depending on whether you are going for Hard or Fearless difficulty. In both difficulties, you will be facing a Level 105 boss, but it will have 475% HP in Hard difficulty and 650% HP in Fearless. If you wish to complete the fight quicker, you can always play on Co-Op and bring your friends to the fight. Don’t forget to carry consumables to help in healing or increasing your character’s stats.
In Hard difficulty, just keep blasting Hydro attacks on the Tyrant to defeat it. But when it comes to Fearless mode, you might require more than one Hydro character to deal with the boss fight. The main takeaway of the battle is to break the Tyrant’s pyro shield, which is possible if you have at least 2 Hydro characters in your team. Keep hitting away to break the shield and deal damage.
Also, if you have picked the second Research Topic, then you should be aware of where these Molten Thrones spawn and avoid them at all cost. Attack the Tyrant from a distance when it spawns here and deal continuous damage to stop the HP regeneration. Keep an eye on the Time Limit during the fight, so deal as many special attacks as you can to defeat the Tyrant and win the battle. You can claim the following 2-Star rewards for completing the Why Is There a Giant Hot Spring Underground arena.
- Mora x20000
- Adventurer’s Experience x4
- Sanctifying Unction x2
