Red Woods in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a late-game area that offers powerful rewards and a secret boss fight. While exploring the uncharted territory, one has to donate some Chroma to the Red Woods Fountain. The amount is not a small one, and hence, one would want to ask what that is going to lead to. And that’s exactly what we answer here, so let’s get started.
What Happens When You Donate To the Fountain In the Red Woods Area?

The Red Woods Fountain will ask for increasing amounts of Chroma each time, and each time you give that amount, it will put up lore details for that area. The amounts that you will be required to give are:
- 5000 chroma
- 10,000 chroma
- 25,000 chroma
- 50,000 chroma
Once you have exhausted the dialogue and given the last amount, Bénisseur will come to life, with the fountain on his head. As a reward for the donation, Bénisseur gives you the Recovery Pictos, which recovers 10% of your health as your turn starts.
The Recovery Picto is a great tool for gamers looking for a passive healing effect. Moreover, the perks work even better when using the Recovery Picto during the early game.
How To Defeat Bénisseur

Talking to Bénisseur is not the final act of the Red Woods Fountain, you can fight him as well. Interact with him and click on ‘Attack’ to initiate the boss fight. Alternatively, you can also ask him about his choice of hiding in the Red Woods.
The boss fight is a tricky one, it will initially start attacking the Expedition party members with its Water Bubble attacks, which have to be parried. These attacks land quite hard, and if you miss the parry timing, these attacks will likely knock you out. The trick is to survive his attacks till he himself dies of exhaustion. As a reward for defeating the secret boss, players will receive 200000 Chroma and 200000 XP.
