As you go around exploring new places in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, there are all kinds of mysterious objects and monsters that you’ll run into. The story of the first island that we start in, acts as a tutorial and helps us understand the mechanics and the pace of the game.
Once you’re done moving throughout the first island, that’s where the real quests begin. As you venture towards new places like Romaria, you start coming across monsters and bosses that just can’t be defeated without a strategy. In one of the first major tasks outside of the first island, you’ll have to find a cunning bandit that goes by the name “Robbin’ ‘ooD”.
Robbin’ ‘ooD Location
Robbin’ ‘ooD and his gang are on the topmost floor of Skyfell Tower. After entering Romaria, you and your party will hear a rumor about a bandit who stole the crown of Romaria. Finding the trail from the rumors will lead to a shady area with a mysterious tower. This is the Skyfell Tower, a place where Robbin’ ooD’ will be hiding with his gang. Besides coming across enemies as you go to the top, you’ll also have to find your way through the multiple confusing floors of the tower.
Once you defeat those smaller enemies and reach the topmost floor, you can find Robbin’ ‘ooD and his gang. He’ll trick you into falling a floor down, and when he does this, remember to take both of his treasures such as the Skull Ring and the Ruby Wristband (in the chests on the right and left).
How To Defeat Robbin’ ‘ooD In Dragon Quest III HD – 2D Remake
After collecting the valuables, follow Robbin’ ‘ooD off the tower and confront him again. This time, his three Robbin’ Oodlums will be ready to attack and overwhelm your party. Keep in mind that Robbin’ ‘ooD is weak against fire attacks, so use it often.
Here are some tips to defeat Robbin’ ‘ooD and his Oodlums with ease:
Party Members: It’s better to have a Warrior, Pilgrim and a Wizard with you on the party. The levels should be around 10-12 (not necessarily, but will make things more easy). As the hero, go for the flame slash attack for causing heavy damage. The warrior will help you deflect any of the attacks that the bandits hit you with using his Cop Out spell. Pilgrims will always have our back through healing spells like Sap and debuffs. As for the Wizard, they’ll have to keep casting Bang and Kabuff to turn the tide in our favor.
Attacks to use on Robbin’ ‘ooD: Fire and Explosion attacks all the way. Use the Flame Slash on Robbin’ ‘ooD, as it will drastically bring his health down with each attack. Use the Bang spell through the Wizard to help gradually decrease the health of Robbin’ ‘ooD’s Oodlums. You can use attacks like Mercurial Thrust and Boomerang, as those are effective on the bandits too.
It’s better to bring down his gang first and then head for the main bandit. Keep an eye out for random powerful attacks as Robbin’ ‘ooD can land critical hits out of nowhere. If it does happen, just heal your party quickly and focus on the next attack. Once you defeat Robbin’ ‘ooD and his Oodlums successfully, you’ll be able to get back the crown of Romaria, but while it happens, we are also asked to make a choice of letting him go or not.
Should You Let Robbin’ ‘ooD Go?
Yes, you should let Robbin’ ‘ooD go, that is the canon choice that the game wants us to make. If you choose to let Robbin’ ‘ooD go, he will give us the stolen crown and quickly escape the Skyfell Tower by jumping off of it. After this, take the crown and just follow him. You’ll return to the overworld (don’t worry, you and your party won’t be injured). He will once again come back to face you as we go about solving each quest in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
What Happens If You Don’t Let Robbin’ ‘ooD Go?
If you decide to not let him go, Robbin’ ‘ooD will beg for his life and repeat the same dialogues again and again till you decide to let him go. No matter what choice you make, you’ll have to ultimately let him go to progress further into the game.
After defeating him and letting him go, you and your party will be rewarded with the Romarian crown. The king of Romaria will give you the Crown and you’ll become the king of Romaria for a bit. This would be a very short reign though, as you’ll have to give up the crown to face the next set of quests. Use your time as the king to explore Romaria and train your party for what’s to come next.
