No Rest for the Wicked lets you explore a magical open world RPG that gets more challenging the deeper you go. There are tons of new realms to explore, and you will find yourself struggling to survive if you aren’t well equipped for battle. Now, you get to explore a whole new game mode, new zones, and collect new weapons as part of the Breach update. This guide will cover everything there is to know about this new update in No Rest for the Wicked.
No Rest For The Wicked: The Breach All Updates Explained
It is best to start the new update with a fresh character and a brand new playthrough, as this will help you fully immerse yourself within everything this update has to offer. Below are what you can expect from the Breach update.
New Danger Zones

There are two new zones that you can explore in the Breach update: the Lowland Meadows and the Marin Woods. To reach Lowland Meadows, start by exiting Sacrament through the southern gate. Lowland Meadows is depicted as a more flowery zone, where you will encounter enemies inflicted with the plague.
As for Marin Woods, you can get here via the northern gate of Sacrament, and is more of a darker woodland area that offers a sharp contrast to its counterpart. The forests here are filled with Blight, and there are tons of unique woodland enemies to encounter here. These two zones will also feature new quests, bosses, and tribes who will attack you at random encounters.
New Safe Zone
If you are checking around for a safe zone, head over to Marin Village. This area unlocks as part of the main story quests, and there are a couple of new vendors to seek out here. You should note that there are no fast travel points to get here, but you would probably use this new area to purchase upgrade materials. There is also another temporary safe zone called The Hunter’s Vale that can be unlocked during your exploration.
New Weapon Types
There are two new weapon types to discover while you are out and about in the new zones. Wands and Gauntlets are now available in the Breach update for melee and ranged builds in the game. Each of these weapons have their own skills and rune slots to work on. Gauntlets let you get up close and personal with your targets, while wands can dish out powerful spells from the distance. Wands can be paired with a shield for extra protection and scales well with intelligence, while Gauntlets will work well with dexterity.
Weapon and Item Rework

Shields have been reworked where, instead of stamina, they will depend on poise. This leaves you room to dish out damage immediately even if you had used your shield. Combat difficulty remains as is, but you will find a marked improvement with weapon scaling. Furthermore, item drops will now scale according to your level and will not be zone locked. You might also find early game gear reappearing in the later zones having higher levels and stats.
Endgame Plague System
Also, some areas within the zones will now face a Pestilence plague, and these are usually marked on the map with a purple hue. To clear the area of Pestilence, head over there and defeat the enemies till the plague marker disappears, after which a boss will be summoned. Defeat the boss to get rid of the plague within this area and collect some rare loot as well. You can collect more loot by increasing the difficulty, but it will become twice as challenging. If you are up for it, you can set the mode right away.
Affixes, Enchantments, and Masterwork
You can now reroll or change enchantments and affixes to your weapons to suit your build, which is a welcome change to what it was previously. You will require the Fallen Ember item to respec and alter enchanted items. Weapons can be masterworked on now by combining gems to infuse the weapon and fill up the gem slots.
Other Updates and Improvements
- Food consumption does not have a cooldown, but there is a hunger limit to how much food you can eat. This limit can be increased using Plague Ichor.
