It’s your first day in prison, you are lost, and all you have is 50 dollars in your pocket. We get it, it’s time to make some money to get some good quality food and afford a blanket by the end of the first day. Back to the Dawn has survival mechanics running in the background, eating quality food, getting fancy wear, and crafting ingredients, all of which require you to possess a good quantity of money to get started. Here are the ways to make money in Back to the Dawn.
Making Money in Back to the Dawn
There are many ways to make money in the game, while some of them follow the legitimate way to make money, while some allow you to live the big man in the prison fantasy. Here are the best ways to make money in Back to the Dawn.
Signing up for Prison Work
NPC Detail: Bruce (Morning and Night)/ Location Detail: Main Hall
Head over to the Main Hall, and talk to Bruce (Guard Captain). Under the Prison Application, you will see your first job in the prison, working at the Laundry Room. While it may not sound like a lot, once you master the minigame of the Laundry cleaning job, you can rake in around $50 per minigame. Completing three and four Laundry minigames could easily net you around 200$ or more, depending on the performance. You will also earn Conduct Credits, allowing you to apply for a newer job with higher pay later on.
Running Gang Missions
The gangs in the prison are not very welcoming; you can’t join any of them without building a proper reputation. Reputation comes from running errands for each gang in the prison; completing an errand for any of the three gangs will earn you money per task and gang Rapports (reputations). More rapport will help you earn your spot in the gang. You can only get gang quests from the gang’s boss, and each quest will have its own rewards and time limit. Here are details of all three gangs and their boss:
- Big Foot Gang: Boss – Jumbo the Elephant/ Cell Number: A107
- Sharp Tooth Gang: Boss – Alex the Lion/ Cell Number: B104
- Black Claw Gang: Boss – Caesar the Chimp/ Cell Number: B205
All the gang’s bosses spend most of their time outside of their cells. The perfect time to meet them will be during Recreation, where you will find all three gangs’ bosses in the yard. Just talk to any of them and get the gang’s quest completed quickly to get the reward and move on to the next quest on the line.

Selling Items to Make Money
Last but not least, you can also sell items at the Barbershop, found next to the General Building during Recreation. Knock on the Barbershop’s door, and you will get Quests (Non-gang related) and the option to sell any items (max 100$). During Recreation time, pull out the weeds in the yard. You might get lucky and get special items, such as a Jewel Scarab. Selling a single one can earn you 75$.
Special Tip: Get the Juicy Gossip skill under the Charisma ability skill tree; it will allow you to gain Intel from eavesdropping on inmates’ conversations. Then you can sell the intel at the barbershop for some cash. Your charisma level will impact the cash rate earned from Intel’s sales.
Stealing
Try your nimble hands and steal items to sell them later on. You must unlock the Steal skill under the Agility skill tree. It will allow you to steal from any inmates in the game. We will suggest saving your game before trying your hand at some lottery target. Right-click on any inmate to see the option for Steal. Once the steal menu prompt opens, you will see the chance of stealing rate. Always steal the item with a higher percentage to get the most amount of success.
Extortion
If you are big and strong, and why not take advantage of that by getting the Extort skill under Charisma, it allows you to extort from any inmates, but only if the inmate has a lower gang status than yours. You can’t extort an inmate with a higher gang status; target the lowest ones until you climb up the ladder.
Making money will be important to making calls to your lawyer, patching up relationships with your ex, and getting quality food to stay healthy for the rest of the day.
