A small campfire will support 3 cooking plates; a large one supports 8. Each of these plates will have slots for three ingredients. Interact with the cooking plate by pressing E, select three ingredients from your inventory, and start cooking.

- When you are cooking food in the campfire, make sure to feed the fire – which is to add one more charcoal to the campfire to make the fire go a bit stronger. This will help you cook the food faster.
- A Flame icon will appear at the bottom of the screen indicating the heat levels. If you hold the button for too long, then the heat meter will reach the red zone too many times and you will have burnt food on your hands. The trick is to hold the button where the heat level stays in the yellow zone.
- The game allows you to experiment, you can create any type of meal as long as you possess the resources for the meal without owning any recipe. Once cooked, the new dish will unlock the recipe in your game.
- Basic Meals: Feel free to experiment with other ingredients when creating a basic meal. Gourmet Meals: Here you must use the specific ingredients or the recipe to work.
