In the Teshio Ridge region, you will come across four separate Closed-Off Buildings, each with its own set of Nine-Tail puzzles that you must solve to unlock them. They are located in random parts of the region and can be difficult to navigate. Here is a complete guide on where to find the Closed-Off Buildings and details about solving them in Ghost of Yotei.
#1. Closed-Off Building Location | Shipwreck Shoal
You will find the location at the Shipwreck Shoal, northeast of Hakodake Mountains in Teshio Ridge.
When you reach the spot, you will see a building on a small island near the mainland, but with no bridge connecting it. You will find two fox statues near the Closed-Off Building, each with a Nine Tails symbol next to it.
Here, set both statues facing each other to create a path to the building. A rope will then shoot out from the ground, connecting to the small island with the Closed-Off Building.
Walk on the rope to get to the island. But the door to the Closed-Off Building will stay locked. Here, interact with the fox statues near the Closed-Off Building and set them facing each other’s backs, the complete opposite of the first two statues on the main island. This will open up the door to the Closed-Off Building. You can head inside and grab the reward.
#2. Closed-Off Building Location | Sentinel Forest
This Closed-Off Building is found in the Sentinel Forest, southeast of Hakodake Mountains in Teshio Ridge.
Once you are in the location, get to the northwest of Sentinel Forest Camp, and you will come across a forest with an opening in the middle. There will be a sign on a lamp with the Nine Tails symbol that translates to Forward.
Follow the path through the bamboo trees, and you will arrive at the Closed-Off Building. The door will be locked, and next to the door, you will find an empty altar. We must find a fox statue and place it on the altar to open the door to the Closed-Off Building.
From the entrance of the Closed-Off Building, take the path to the left. You will see another lamp with the Nine Tails symbol with a Forward sign. After a short walk, you will come across a crosswalk. Ignore the path ahead, and on the right, take the path partly blocked by bamboo trees. Cut the trees and head inside, and you will find a fox statue in the spot. Now grab the fox statue and take it back to the Closed-Off Building. Place it on the altar, and the door will get unlocked.
#3. Closed-Off Building Location | Sarobetsu Forest
Head to Sarobetsu Forest, and you will find the Closed-Off Building, north of Black Dye-House, southwest of Kitsune Altar in Teshio Ridge.
You will find the Closed-Off Building near the bonfire in the location. The house entrance will have two altars, but the altar on the left will be empty, and the right altar will have a fox statue sitting on it. If you look around the Closed-Off Building, you will see lamps, each with its own Nine Tails symbol. Behind each lamp in the area, you will find a thin ice spot. Stepping on them will break the ice, and you will go through the ground.
Observe the NineTails symbol on the lamp, and head to the lamp with a Forward Nine Tails symbol. Now go behind the lamp, and fall through the thin ice. Here you will fall down a small hole, and you will find a hidden fox statue. Interact with the fox statue to activate it. All of its tails will be closed. Once you interact with the statue, all of its tails will be out in the open.
Now head back to the Closed-Off Building and take the statue on the right altar and place it on the empty altar on the left. This will unlock the door to the Closed-Off Building.
#4. Closed-Off Building Location | Crimson Forest
You will find the last Closed-Off Building in the Crimson Forest, located in Teshio Ridge.
Here you will find two fox statue altars next to the Closed-Off Building, and two others at the entrance to the area. On your way to the Closed-Off Building, you will find two separate fox statues next to the torch; one will have the Nine Tails symbol for Death, and the other one will have the symbol for Engage. The fox on the death symbol will be standing up, and the fox on the Engage sign will be lying down.
You will see the same two statues at the entrance of the Closed-Off Building and near the building. Now grab the torch and light the fox statue altar left of the Closed-Off Building and the entrance to the place. Basically, light up the altar where the fox statue is in a sleeping position and ignore the other one. This will open up the lock to the Closed-Off Building.
