Black Myth Wukong is an action RPG that has several gameplay mechanics that help round up your character and give it that extra edge when it comes to tough boss fights – which are aplenty in the game. One such mechanic is using Vessels – which grant one super strong passive and active ability. If you are looking for ways to sharpen up your build, we would highly recommend that you unlock all vessels in Black Myth Wukong. In this guide, we have put all the details on how to get going on this.
What Do Vessels In Black Myth Wukong Do?
There are 4 Vessels to be collected in Black Myth Wukong; however you can equip only 1 Vessel at a time. Each Vessel has a passive ability that stays with you throughout the time that Vessel is equipped; and 1 active ability which can be used by consuming all Qi. Since it is unlikely that you would be able to regenerate all Qi without resting, it is effectively a one-time use. But these abilities are also strong enough that a one-time use can significantly benefit you in a tough boss battle and often completely shift the balance in your favour. Collecting all 4 Vessels in Black Myth Wukong also unlocks the ‘Treasure Trove’ trophy / achievement.
Vessel # 1 : Fireproof Mantle
In order to unlock the Fireproof Mantle, you need to ring three bells located in Chapter 1. This is one of those quests where it is not immediately made clear whether you should ring a bell once you come across it. But doing so (the order does not matter, you just need to complete all three) unlocks a secret area ‘Ancient Guanyin Temple’ where you come across the boss ‘Elder Jinchi’. Defeating this boss drops the Fireproof Mantle. Also do remember to get the Guanyin Prayer Beads just before the boss fight. If you are looking for locations of all the three bells, we have put up a detailed guide on this for you to checkout here.
Fireproof Mantle Benefits:
Passive -Increases burn resistance and gives immunity to scorch damage.
Active – Imparts burn immunity and focus increase.
Vessel # 2 : Wind Tamer
In order to unlock the Wind Tamer, you will need to complete the Drunken Boar NPC quest and the Man-in-Stone NPC quest. The Man-In-Stone will hand over a Sobering Stone on completing his questline; and giving this Sobering Stone to the Drunken Boar will have him point you to the Crouching Tiger Temple. As you approach the temple, you will notice a NPC who will ask you to get him a Jade Lotus (generally found around water-bodies). Give this and proceed with the quest to eventually unlock the secret area : Kingdom of Sahali; and a boss fight against Fuban – a giant armored beetle. Defeating Fuban unlocks the Wind Tamer Vessel in Black Myth Wukong
Wind Tamer Benefits:
Passive : Slight increase in damage reduction.
Active : Massive increase to damage reduction for a short period and immunity against strong winds.
Vessel # 3 : Weaver’s Needle
The next vessel in Black Myth Wukong unlocks in Chapter 4, which to no one’s surprise by now, has boss fights to unlock a secret area – The Purple Cloud Mountain, which has further boss fights. The quest for this vessel begins on encountering the Venom Daoist in the Pool of Shattered Jade. You then run across him again for a second fight at the Court of Illumination; reached by taking a tunnel just before the end-boss in Chapter 4. This takes you to the Purple Cloud Mountain, which is a decent sized area full of loot to collect. Explore it fully to unlock the fight against The Duskveil; who drops The Weaver’s Needle on defeat.
Weaver’s Needle Benefits:
Passive : Increased critical hit chance by 2% and critical hit damage by 6%.
Active : Spawns a needle that relentlessly targets enemies.
Vessel # 4 : Plantain Fan
Another vessel – meaning another secret area to unlock, explore and several boss fights to get to the end, right? No! This vessel in Black Myth Wukong thankfully unlocks as part of the main story progression in Chapter 5 and cannot be missed! So all you need to do is just keep playing the game and you will get the Plantain Fan – the best Vessel in the game.
Plantain Fan Benefits:
Passive : Moderate increase to stamina recovery.
Active : Creates a hurricane that lifts enemies and keeps them airborne for a while.
