The Ghost King is one of the few bosses in Dark and Darker that can give players a run for their money. The boss has a lot of moves and can deal massive damage if you get caught unaware. It’s a tough encounter, sure, but like any other challenges in the game, it’s pretty manageable if you know what to do.
In this guide, we’ll give you a complete rundown on all you need to know to defeat the Ghost King in Dark and Darker. Let’s get started.
How To Defeat The Ghost King In Dark And Darker
The key to defeating the Ghost King in Dark and Darker is to go in with the right team setup and know how to play around his attacks. Here’s a complete guide on how to defeat the boss:
Ghost King Location
Ghost King has a 33% chance to spawn in the middle of Inferno maps. Frankly, it’s pretty hard to miss. The fight starts as soon as the first player moves into the room.
Recommended Gear and Equipment:
For this fight, you want to bring a good amount of Healing Potions to recover from the boss’s attacks. For equipment, you don’t need all legendaries. But make sure you’ve got some decent stats on your gears. Equipment that gives bonus Magic Resistance, such as the Skeleton Skins, can help a lot in this fight.
Best Team Composition
Going in with the right team composition can make the Ghost King boss fight a lot easier in Dark and Darker. Ideally, you want to have a Ranger, a Barbarian (melee), and a Cleric.
- Ranger
The Ranger serves as the group’s main damage dealer. Use Quickshot for the damage burst, Multishot for some extra damage, and Field Ration to help you stay alive. Your goal is to position yourself far away from the boss and dodge around the cursed circle while getting in your damage.
- Barbarian (Melee)
Barbarian is your main secondary source of damage. However, you need to make sure the Curse of Chilling stacks don’t get too high. It’s best to equip tanky gears so that you can survive the high-damage boss abilities.
- Cleric
The Cleric is perhaps the most important piece of the puzzle in this team composition. Your goal is to time your heals and buffs so that your allies can dish out the damage. Stock up on healing spells and buff spells, depending on your capacity. Take the Protection from Evil perk to reduce the Curse of Chilling duration by 30%
Ghost King Boss Fight Guide
When you enter the Ghost King room, the boss will teleport to the first player to enter the arena. He will also leave a pool of Curse after the teleport attack. It’s easy to dodge the move. The boss will repeat this attack multiple times. We recommend keeping some distance from your teammates to make sure the entire arena doesn’t get covered by Curses. These pools will keep stacking the Curse effect, and higher the number of Stacks, the higher is the damage done by the Ghost King attacks!
Orb Attack : The next move you’ll likely face is his Orb Attack. The boss will shoot five orbs toward a player that does 30 damage for each orb that connects. On a hit, these orbs also spawn Curse Pools on the ground. So keep moving around the boss to avoid getting hit.
Scream / Curse Bubble: The boss also has a move where he surrounds himself with a Curse Bubble and starts chasing a player. Getting caught inside the bubble will drain your health. The best way to avoid this move is to simply sheathe your weapon and start running. If you get caught, you’ll likely die. So ask your Cleric to keep healing you whenever he gets the chance.
Earthquake : The last boss ability you’ll need to watch out for is Ghost King’s Earthquake. This ability will one-shot anyone who gets hit with it. To make matters worse, the boss also becomes completely invulnerable when channeling this move. Thankfully, dodging it is quite easy. Pay attention to Ghost King’s head; if you see blue sparks shooting up, that’s your cue for jumping. If you don’t get hit with the ability, Ghost King will spawn 3 Death Skulls. Thankfully, Cleric’s Holy Purification ability gets rid of them instantly.
Tips When Fighting The Ghost King In Dark And Darker
- Keep moving … you do not want the Curse to stack up, else the big hits can easily one shot you and your friends, and a lot of time in between will be lost in consuming healing potions. The Curse pools on ground go away in a few seconds if no one steps in on them.
- A Ranger will do a lot of the damage in this case; while the melee tank takes up the attention and a lot of the main attacks from the Ghost King.
- The fight is a test of patience, and you will always be gradually whittling away the boss’s health bar over a period of time. This is one of those fights where it pays to be cautious.
