The levels in R.E.P.O are filled with monsters of different kinds, and each monster has specialized techniques that they use to sniff you out. Some of the smaller monsters like gnomes are more difficult to control, as they come at you in groups. If you are having a hard time trying to overcome gnomes, then this guide will explain how to deal with them in R.E.P.O.
What Are Gnomes In R.E.P.O

Gnomes are tiny creatures that like to attack players in swarms. They usually appear in groups of 3 to 5, and they always arrive unexpectedly. If you are not vigilant of your surroundings, they can randomly appear from behind closed cabinets or other hidden areas and follow you around while dealing damage. The problem is not the damage they deal, but the fact that they are loud and alert nearby monsters to your location.
How To Defeat Gnomes in R.E.P.O
Just pick the Gnomes and drop them with force, that will kill them. If you have extra strength upgrades unlocked, then you can increase the force with which you can drop them. If there are several Gnomes within the area, pick up one of them and use it to kill the others by dropping them on top of the other! Gnomes are the most common enemies you will encounter during your time in R.E.P.O, and they tend to appear in all levels. Hence why learning how to tackle them is extremely important.

You can also use these Gnomes as weapons to kill other monsters or distract them. Gnomes are the easiest monsters to kill, and any melee weapon can take care of them. Another method that you can try is to lure these pesky creatures towards other monsters like the Blind Huntsman, as the noise the Gnomes make can easily trigger the Huntsman to attack them. Do note that you should always keep Gnomes away from your loot and cart, as they can easily jump in and destroy everything you own.
Tips to Get Rid of Gnomes
- If the level is filled with Gnomes, focus on killing them first, then go ahead and collect your loot.
- Gnomes have a tendency to respawn after a while, so time is not your friend here.
- You have to continuously keep moving and keep exfiling loot before things get out of hand.
- If playing co-op, you can ask your friends to hold off the Gnomes for you while you deal with collecting loot and filling up the quota.
- Mines and Grenades can cause AoE damage, which is great to take care of larger groups of Gnomes within a short amount of time.
