The Budakai combat is back, now more flashier than ever. Dragon Ball Sparking Zero launched Kamehameha on people’s expectations. When you are playing a Dragon Ball game, especially a game that borrows mechanics from the older highly popular Budakai series, you want to prepare for the worst. As the opponents will be tough, you must use all the skills at your disposal to strike fast and hard. Here’s a guide that focuses on two of the most extremely helpful moves in the Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero: how to teleport and counter.
List Of All Counters In Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
Here we will learn all five available counters in DB: Sparking Zero: Perception, Super Perception, Super Counter, Z counter, High-speed Invasion, and Teleport.
You need to counter, or you are better off dead when you jump online, everybody has mastered the super counters. No matter how many times you try to hit them, most people are used to the common attacks and will hit you back with a successful counter each time. So how can you perform these counter moves in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?
Perception Counter
Requirement: 0 Skill points
Action Key: Hold a circle and wait to counter Rush Attacks
A classic bait and switch move, you bait the enemy for the attack then you pull the Perception Counter.
There are two different types of perception counters. In both cases, you will have to use the Circle button to pull off the perception counter. But the timing here will help you pull off a cool move in the game.
Type 1 Perception Counter
If you hold the Circle when the enemy starts to rush attack, you will push the enemy forward, nothing fancy.
Type 2 Perception Counter
But if you time it right, hold the Circle right when the enemy lands a Rush attack on you, a cool animation (Sonic sway) will play out, where your character starts weaving left and right, then attacks the enemy.
Note: Type 2 Perception Counter is the best out of both, pulling it off drains the Ki of the enemy.
Super Perception Counter
Requirement: 1 Skill point, 2 for beams
Action Key: Hold a Circle and wait to counter
It follows the same mechanics as the normal perception counter. Where you press and Hold Circle to execute the move but you will need to let go of some of your resources. Many players skip the Super Perception Counter or save it for the beam attacks.
The skill point use of the Super Perception puts off many players, as they use it to get the next best counters in the game. The skill count matters a lot when you are going head to head with a tough opponent, wasting it on a counter is a risky business.
Super Counter
Instantly knock back the enemy far away! By far the hardest one to master in the game, right next to the Z counter.
Requirement: 0 Skill points
Action Key: The Up movement key + Square Key for attack (You need to press them both simultaneously)
Timing matters incredibly here, you need to pull off these two buttons exactly when the enemy lands the attack on you. The timing window is extremely small since it is a dragon ball game, the enemy hits are coming at you at a faster rate, and it will take time for the mind to analyze the melee attack and press two buttons at once.
Here are some tips to practice the super counter move:
- Why should you learn Super Counter? It costs 0 Skill Gauge.
- You can pull off a Super Counter even if you are taking hits on your back. You just need to execute the move and your character will counter it automatically no matter where the enemy is around you.
- Practice, prepare to sweat profusely when you are practicing counter, just like in any game, parry is one of the hardest moves to learn but when you do the game becomes incredibly easier.
Z Counter
Requirement: 0 Skill points
Action key: Press the button R1 after a follow-up attack.
Z Counter will make you feel like a true anime character, when you pull off the move, you instantly vanish right behind the enemy’s back. Something that you see in the last battle scenes in Dragon Ball, One Piece, or any Shonen anime. Both Super Counter and Z Counter are extremely useful and harder to master.
You will need to press R1 right at the moment the follow-up attack lands on your character. Compared to the Super Counter where you have to press two buttons (Up key + Attack), here you just need to press a single button. Which will make things a tiny bit easier compared to the other skills on the list.
Teleport or High-Speed Evasion Counter
Requirement: 0 Skill points
Action Key: You will need to press R1 right when the enemy lands their attack on you.
Another incredible move that will save your health bar countless times. The move here follows all the details of the Z counter.
Teleport or High-Speed Evasion skill doesn’t take away any resources, it costs 0 skill to pull off the move. It looks the same as a Z counter, but you will perform at the beginning of the enemy’s combo rather than on the follow-up attack. The instant teleport move is gratifying to pull off.
What Is The Difference Between Z Counter & High-Speed Evasion Counter?
It all has the same button as the Z counter, the only difference here is – Teleport is suited at the right at the beginning of the attack rather than the follow-up move. Z counter is perfect to get out of an enemy’s combo, as it will help you get out of the enemy’s combo chain in the middle. That’s why, we pull off the Z counter during a follow-up attack.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero comes with a lot of moves, but before the Combo Practice, it is better to sink your teeth in the Counter moves. Or the online match will be the stuff of nightmares.
