Black Myth Wukong has you playing as The Destined One and exploring a tough but engaging world and defeating intimidating monsters and bosses. The game offers secrets hidden well off the main progression path, and very early on; you will notice a familiar item which is a staple in all games missing – a map. In case you are wondering if there is a way to address this, we have put up the full guide on travel in Black Myth Wukong – including fast travel and more.

Is There A Map In Black Myth Wukong?

No, there is no map in Black Myth Wukong. Neither does it appear on the game interface as you play, nor is there a menu that you can go to and pull up a map. So no convenient icons to show places of interest or even anything to indicate your presence and extent of progression in that particular area! The developers I guess wanted to give a more discover everything yourself sense of adventure to the players and hence the decision not to include a map. While most of the Black Myth Wukong progression happens along a relatively linear path, there are definitely areas and items of interest to be discovered across small diversions that you will miss out if you don’t venture off the beaten path.

Is There Fast Travel In Black Myth Wukong?

You can only fast travel in Black Myth Wukong from a Keeper’s Shrine to another previously discovered Keeper’s Shrine. Also, since there is no map; you cannot fast travel from any location to a Keeper’s Shrine – you have to traverse to the nearest Keeper’s Shrine first. As you discover one and offer Incense, you get the following options unlocked at that Keeper’s Shrine:

    • Rest : this refills your Gourd and also resets the areas and the enemies in that area
    • Self Advance : this is to progress and upgrade your character
    • Craft : you can craft upgrades if you have collected all the ingredients
    • Brew
    • Store
    • Make Medicines

The restrictions on Fast Travel along with the absence of a Map means that it is critical for you to remember the Keeper’s Shrine for each of the areas – and it also gives exploration that added edge, particularly if you are close to running out of Gourds but have no idea how far (or near) is the next Keeper’s Shrine. The way the game helps you somewhat here is that you will have a faint golden shimmer helping you towards the Keeper’s Shrine if you are near it.

With the emphasis on exploration and discovery, be sure to fully understand the healing system in Black Myth Wukong and the best Relics to equip in Black Myth Wukong : Both these aspects will be critical for ensuring maximum survivability.
