    Starfield Conflict In Conviction Quest Guide: How To Find Vaeric (& All Choices Explained)

    Now that the much-awaited Shattered Space DLC is here, Starfield players are immersing themselves in the main quests (House Va’Ruun Faction Quests). One such mission is Conflict in Conviction where you will have to assist the House Veth’aal to locate Vaeric, one of the crucial characters in the RPG. Also, it would not be a Bethesda RPG if, once you find Vaeric, you did not have to decide whether to kill him or spare him. We have put up all the details on how to find Vaeric and what happens if you Kill or Save Vaeric in Starfield: Shattered Space’s Conflict In Conviction mission.

    How To Find Vaeric In Starfield Shattered Space Conflict In Conviction

    You will find Vaeric in an abandoned dwelling in Apostate’s Refuge. However, you will have to go through a lot of interactions before you can reach the place. Here are all the steps to find Vaeric successfully:

    • Head over to Herald’s Rest as this is one of the places that Vaeric frequently visits. There will be three people that you can speak to try and get information. Speak to each one and if the Persuasion checks work out, they will share the information. Eventually, someone out of the three will tell you to wait & seek help from Tane.
    • Once Tane arrives at the bar, interact with him. Either pass the Intimidation check, or give him 1000 Credits for the information on Vaeric. He will then accompany you on your quest to find him.
    • The mission objective will change to ‘Search northwest of Dazra’ for Vaeric. Fast travel to the Keep Armory, and Tane will hand a Tracker to locate Vaerik.

    • Next, you will periodically get a ‘Distance to Target’ alert on the top right of the screen, and you will have to use that to get close to the location. Make your way towards the cliffs in the middle with two towering structures on top.
    • You will arrive at the Hamadi Station, but the route will be closed. Take the narrow approach on the right of it to proceed further. The last few meters will have you doing a few jumps across cliffs till you arrive at the Abandoned Camp, and the objective will now change to Examine the Camp.

    After a thorough exploration of the camp, you will find three clues:

    • Tracker & Vaeric’s Camp Log Entry # 1 on the table just as you enter the tent,
    • Vaeric’s Camp Log Entry # 2 next to the bed,
    • Footprints at the digging site,
    • Bloodstains on a boulder next to the tent.

    Note: Once you find all of the clues mentioned above, defeat the Foul Vortex Horror enemies that spawn.

    Next, head down and keep following the objective marker. It will point towards clues that indicate the path that Vaeric took, and will lead you to Irina’s Farm. Speak to Irina, and she will reveal the final location for Vaeric: an Abandoned Farm in Apostate’s Refuge.

    Enter the dwelling on the farm and read each log on Vaeric’s computer to gather more information about his whereabouts. Head upstairs as well and take Vaeric’s Log (on top of the table). Head outside to talk to Tane. When you reach him, Vaeric will appear.

    Should You Kill Or Spare Vaeric In Starfield Conflict In Conviction Quest?

    Vaeric will then ask you to explain yourself. Go through the dialog options with Vaeric, and there are four possible ways this discussion can go:

    Kill Vaeric & Tane, loot the Signet Ring from Vaeric, go back and inform Viktor. Vitoria will not be happy with this and tells Viktor that he is destroying the House Veth’aal.

    Kill Vaeric & let Tane go. Tane will not be happy with your actions and will go back to Herald’s Rest. The rest of the quest proceeds in the same way as the earlier one. Loot the ring, give it to Viktor, have Vitoria express her displeasure, and the quest is over.

    Allow Vaeric to walk away, and ask just for the Signet Ring, or 10000 Credits & the Signet Ring. Show the Signet Ring to Viktor, and he will be convinced that Vaeric has been taken care of, and the mission will be completed. You can then speak to Tane and recruit him as crew.

    This is by far the best outcome: Vaerik gets to live, you get 10000 Credits and a Crew Member, & Viktor considers Vaeric dead, leaving him free to pursue a life of his own choosing.

    Persuade Vaeric to return. You will have to go through quite a few Persuasion checks, but once they pass, Vaeric will admit that he may have acted a bit too abruptly after Vashti’s death, and all the destruction that happened. With this, Vitoria will be relieved, however Viktor will be angry that you did not carry out the task of killing Vaerik. Luther & Vitoria manage to convince Viktor to forgive him, and you get a happy family reunion. But you lose out on any Credits here.
