Stalker 2: Kill Shah Or Roosevelt In King of the Hill Quest?

The King of the Hill quest in Stalker 2 is all about betrayal while finding the answer. While the quest might appear a simple one, it has multiple ways to complete it. While the decision itself might have a lesser impact on the questline the reward for choosing one of these endings will help us immensely in the game. If you want to be sure to get that reward, let’s get on with answering the question of whether you should kill Shah or Roosevelt in King of the Hill quest.

All 4 Choices In King Of The Hill Mission In Stalker 2

We learn that Varan has imprisoned the man who attacked us and that the prisoner might be able to help us with info about the disappearance of the Slag Heap’s Kingpin. The gang is found south of the Slag Heap in the plant. When we get to the location, we will have to deal with four choices to finish the quest:

    • Pay 20k Coupons to Recover the info
    • Kill Shah, leader of The Brood Gang
    • Kill Roosevelt, leader of the Commissary
    • Kill Varan

    Option #1: Pay 20000 Coupons

Definitely a hard skip, a complete waste of coupons. We are going to assume, you don’t have anywhere close to that in your stash, so it’s better to move to the different options in the menu.

Option #2: Kill Rival Gang Leader Shah

Shah is located west of Slag Heap.

There are two ways to go about killing Shah: the path of violence or the stealthier option.

    Violent Way:

Head to the west of Slag Heap, the gang is hiding in the location titled The Brood. If you like to take care of the problem from far away, then you can climb on the tower northeast of the Brood and snipe the enemies before they even know what is happening.

    Stealth Way:

Talk to Huron in Slag Heap to open up a side quest titled No Honor Among Thieves. This quest is related to the Brood, progress through the quest and then Huron will let you know about a sneaky way to get into Brood’s lair.

It doesn’t matter how you want to approach the quest, once you are done with it, head to Shah’s dead corpse and take the PDA off his body.

Option #3: Kill Rival Gang Leader Roosevelt

    Indoor Stalker 2

You will find Roosevelt north of Slag Heap.

Just like our approach to Shah, Roosevelt also follows the same gameplay strategy. Here we also have the option to march right into the base and paint the town red or take it a more sneaky way.

    Violent Way:

North of Slag Heap, you will find the Commissary. Since we are not sneaking into the area, you can just go gun blazing until you see Roosevelt’s dead corpse lying on the ground.

    Sneaky Way:

Here we also need to gain the intel to get inside the base, and the person who is going to provide us with the intel is Borodulin. He has his own demented way of fun by allowing you to run and hide for 60 seconds while he shoots at you. After you run out the 60 seconds, he will hand you the information about the Roosevelt. We will also get the intel to sneak into the base through the pipes of the building.

It doesn’t matter, what route you choose to get your hands dirty, after you kill Roosevelt, loot his corpse and you will get the PDA.

    Option #4: Attack Varan

After you kill either Roosevelt or Shah, the road always returns to Varan, where he will always betray you. The prisoner he promised to give us information about is already dead, and we have been running in his little game all this time. Here you will have to kill Varan.

Kill Shah Or Roosevelt In King Of The Hill Quest?

Killing Shah or Roosevelt will have no effect on the quest or how it will play out later since Varan is waiting for us at the end holding betrayal in his hands. So it doesn’t matter who you decide to kill first or spare. You are always walking out of the mission with blood on your hands. Also, neither Roosevelt nor Shah are good people, so killing them shouldn’t have any moral consequences, they are a lineup of bad guys who are surviving in the zone.

    Recommended Choice

Our choice is the one where we get maximum loot and gear: Accept the quest from Varan. Take out Shah first, then go for Roosevelt’s head, and loot everything from those two bases. When you return to Varan, just take him out as well right away instead of dealing with the betrayal.

    Second Option

If saving time is your ultimate priority, then killing Varan right away makes a lot of sense. If you decide to take out Varan right away, you can loot the body and open the cell to see the prisoner. Loot the “Unusual PDA ” off the dead corpse to continue the quest. We will not recommend this option, as it skips out plenty of loot which is a bad deal to get in a game like Stalker.

Note: The Unusual PDA will lead to multiple interactions with the main storyline with characters.

Stalker 2 also has another quest; The Lost Boys where you are faced with a similar choice; of either siding with, or eliminating the Ninth. While both have rewards, there is one that is much better, do check out our guide on this topic so that you know what you are getting for either of the two choices.
