Split Fiction: Cold Potato Trophy Guide

Difficult achievements are always part of the game, obtaining them is not easy but when the gamer’s score is on the line, you must do whatever it takes to obtain them. One of the hardest achievements in Split Fiction is Cold Potato, where you must complete Chapter 3 in Split Fiction without dropping the bomb. In this guide, we will lay out all the strategies to beat the challenge in all the 7 levels of the Gameshow.

    Achievement Overview

    Achievement: Cold Potato
What needs to be done: Complete the Game show without the bomb exploding
    Side Story: Gameshow
    Obtainable Chapter: Chapter 3
    Mission: Hopes of Spring
    Category: Gold

The tricky part of this challenge is that if one player fails to catch the bomb, then it is an instant restart of the entire chapter. If you fail to earn the achievement; you must restart the entire chapter from the very beginning.

How To Unlock The Cold Potato Trophy

    Level 1:

Objective: Catch the bomb exactly four times.

Pretty straightforward. The first stage or level serves as a tutorial to get you used to the tossing mechanics behind the bomb. Here you must throw the bomb back and forth four times to complete the stage.

    Level 2:

Objective: Dump the bomb at the disposal container at the end of the platform. Both players need to run toward the container on their own separate walkways. Since both walkways will be separated, you must toss the bomb at the other to save it from the explosion.

One player will get the bomb from the starting block. Then the job is simple: run towards the container at the other end of the platform and toss the bomb when the beeping noise increases. The other player must press R2 to catch the bomb and dump it in the container. You don’t need to toss multiple times, you can reach the container with only one toss.

    Level 3:

Objective: Works the same as the last level platform, but instead of a gap in the middle, a giant wall will separate your platform from your friend. You will still be able to see each other, though. Use the jumping platforms on the ground to help you lift off the platform and toss the bomb to each other in mid-air.

The trickiest part here for us was that both players had to use the jump platform right around the same time. If one player is in the air and the other is still getting to the jumping platform mark, then the bomb will explode. Both players will need to repeat this multiple times until they reach the disposal container at the end of the platform.

    Level 4:

Objective: Here platforms on both sides will feature obstacles for both players. When you are going through obstacles, you will lose sight of your partner on the other side. The walls around you will block your line of sight and you will not be able to toss the bomb in the middle of the obstacle course.

The trick here is to pass the bomb to the other player before they get out of sight. After completing each section of the obstacles, you will see your friend on the other side, completely visible. You must throw the bomb, even if you feel like you can take the bomb safely because the beeping of the bomb hasn’t intensified.

    Level 5:

Objective: This level features a moving robot on the platform. When you move around the platform, the robot will only go after the player holding the bomb. You have to navigate to the disposal container at the end of the platform while getting out of the robot’s way from coming after you.

The strategy here is for one player to lure the attention of the robot, and as soon as the robot approaches and comes near to you, pass the bomb to the your partner. You can complete this level by passing the bomb around three to four times. Make sure to listen to the bomb and simultaneously look out for the robot behind your back. You need to throw the bomb before the timer ticks and the robot catches up with you.

    Level 6:

Objective: Now you are going to face plenty of moving tiles. The path is straightforward unlike previous levels. Make sure to throw it before getting onto the moving tiles or activating the jumping platform.

Since platforms here will be in constant movement, you must toss the bomb before both players get on the moving platform. The main idea is to be in sync with another player on the other side of the screen.

    Level 7: Final Round

Objective: This is where you end the announcer robot before we get to that part of the level. We must finish 3 obstacle courses, two jumping platforms, and a single closed-wall explosion.

The best tactic is to toss the bomb before heading through the obstacle as well as after completing the obstacle. On your third jumping platform, you will both reach the head of the announcer. That’s where the section will end, and the trophy will pop up.
