How To Activate Atlas Of World in Path of Exile 2
You will activate Atlas of World after eliminating Doryani (Act 3 Boss) on Cruel Difficulty.
Acts 1 to 3 are part of the early access, we will see more arcs, six to be precise, to be released once the game comes out of early access. The game has Normal and Cruel difficulty; with the latter carrying more bonuses and rewards to bosses and quests. Once you burn through both, the game activates Atlas of Worlds. This will officially kick off the end-game content for the Path of Exile 2.
You will find yourself in Ziggurat Refuge, a hub for the end-game content in Path of Exile 2, and receive your first Waystone to begin your journey in the Atlas of Worlds.
Atlas of Worlds is nothing but a giant map filled with nodes and a box full of surprises. It gets referred to as Map for convenience and we will be using the term Map to describe the Atlas of Worlds content.
How To Travel On The Map In Path Of Exile 2
We can travel within nodes in the end-game map for Path Of Exile 2 by using Waystones.
Make your way to the Map Device to open the map and start your adventure. On the map, you will spot many nodes scattered throughout the land connected with lines. The lines act as a pathway from one node to another.
When you observe the nodes, you will notice each one has a color attached to it.
- Blue Node: Area available for Travel.
- Green Node: The area has been completed.
- Un-glow nodes: if the nodes are not glowing, then it hasn’t been unlocked.
Completing more nodes makes the Map better and you will get better rewards and items as a result.
Note: The map layout, like a lot of things in the game, is randomized for each player.
Click on any Blue Node, once you click on the node, the inventory will open on your right. Drag the newly acquired Waystone into the Map Node’s box. and click on Travel to interact with the Map.
About Waystones
Having more and stronger Waystones becomes important to engage with the end game content. If you have absolutely zero idea of Waystones and all of its in-depth details, then do check our easily digestible guide on Waystones, so you will have an abundant amount of them in your game.
About Nodes In The Map
Each nodes have different biomes, challenges, and enemies for us to face. Getting into each one and turning them from Blue to Green is the route to the end game in Path of Exile 2. Every time you complete a node, it strengthens the map for a better drop.
Nodes in special biomes such as desert, coastal or mountain will carry additional rewards after you beat it. You will also encounter some nodes having special icons above them, this indicates the node will have a special boss encounter.
You can open the Atlas Skills to make the map better and tougher for more rewards for a longer endgame content loop. Everything you do on the map will start to cater to the challenges and activities more toward your choice.
Other Major Locations On Atlas Of Worlds Map
The extent to which Path of Exile 2 has pushed the end-game content should be celebrated. There are way too many things to learn to understand the depth of the end-game content. Here we will cover all the other details of the map before we tackle the activities.
The Realmgate
Here we use the items that we collect from other sorts of endgame activities and invest them to face the toughest boss the game offers.
- From Breach activity we obtain Breachstone. Collecting 300 of them and investing them in Realmgate will allow us to face a unique boss.
- We also can invest in Simulacrum from the Delirium activity at Realmgate.
- You can also buy Audience with the King map fragment by trading Favour from Ritual activity.
Lost Towers
Conquering the towers will clear out the fog on the map, as it will reveal more of the map that was once hidden from sight. When you click on the Lost Tower, you will also see an empty box, just like the nodes on the map. While in nodes, you had to install Waystones to travel, to deal with Lost Towers you will need to insert Precursor Tablets.
Installing Precursor Tablets will make the surrounding area more challenging but rewarding as well. The tower will cover a small circle of area around it, and add the bonus from the tablet. Any nodes within the AOE of the tower will also receive the bonus effect. You will also come across more towers, planting the tablet in each one of them will make the area a more rewarding experience.
The next question that would come up is where do you gain these tablets? Well, each tablet type is attached to the league mechanics. So for example, Breach activity will drop Breach tablets that you can insert into Lost Towers to make more breaches appear on the map. The same goes for all the other activities attached to the end-game content.
Hideouts
These hideouts serve as a resting place for your end game. You can come back to the Hideout to trade, use the portal, and access the map device. On the map, you will find four Hideouts: Felled, Limestone, Canal, and Shrine Hideouts.
Citadel
Here you face the bosses from all three acts: Count Geonor, Jamanra the Abomination, and Doryani, Royal Thaumaturge. Citadels aren’t going to open easily in the map, you must clear out several dozen maps to gain access to them. Another requirement here is a Tier 15 Waystone.
Burning Monolith
Once you defeat a boss from Citadel, you will gain Crisis Fragments. You can then use these Fragments, three of them, to fight the Arbiter of Ash in the Burning Monolith.
Revealing the Burning Monolith area on the map will kick off the quest “Pinnacle of Flame“. Once you defeat the boss in Burning Monolith, you will get unique items and points for your Atlas Tree.
What To Do in Atlas of Worlds Map?
Here we are going to focus on Riutal, Breach, Expedition, and lastly Delirium.
Everything we will discuss here is part of the Map (Atlas of World). Each has its own progression system, rewards, and bonuses. And all these systems are part of the giant map.
Ritual Events
These nodes will be marked with Ritual symbols above them. Here once you head inside the map, your job is to find Ritual Cricles and activate them by slaying monsters within the area. Once activated, all the slain enemies will rise up and attack you! You will need to complete three such ritual circles.
Rewards:
Each defeated enemy will award you with a Tribute. You can then spend it at Ritual Altar to gain favor, which can either be Armor, weapon, jewelry, or crafting materials. You have the option to reroll, if you don’t find the item attractive.
Breach Events
If a node has a Purple Hand icon above it, then it will count as a Breach. Here the game is time, you must defeat the enemies as fast as possible, so the tear will stay open for a long time. Place all of your bets on fast damage, don’t add any slow modifiers, you want the enemies to die quickly. If you don’t deal enough damage, then the breach will be over quickly.
Rewards:
- Catalysts: Perfect for Amulets and Rings.
- Breach Rings: Special rings with an array of modifiers.
- Breach Splinters: Collect 300 of them to form a Breachstone, which will allow you to go on one against Xesht, We That Are One.
Expedition Events
These nodes will have an expedition symbol on them. Here you set explosives to blow up the ground, revealing treasures and monsters. More explosives will extend the range of the zone. The monsters you will deal with here are extremely powerful. Take proper caution before you decide to blow up more spots.
Rewards:
Here you will obtain Artifacts that you can trade with Kalguurans in exchange for gears
Delirium
It will have its own icon above the nod indicating it is a Delirium event. Once you head inside, you will find a giant white crystal vortex. That’s our gateway to the event, the vortex is referred to as Delirium Mirror.
When you go inside Delirium Manor, you will be surrounded by a ring of fog with monsters appearing out of the blue. Here the only to survive is to stay in the ring of fog, never to touch the center and edge of the fog. If you accidentally leave the ring, you will be given 5 seconds to get back, delirium will end if you fail.
Rewards:
Every time you kill an enemy within the Delirium Fog, you will get Distilled Emotion, which you can track at the bottom-left of the screen.
Power Ritual, Breah, Expedition, or Delirium?
If you have already mastered the art of finishing a Breach, Expedition, Ritual, or Delirium, then you can make them stronger and make the enemies drop more rewards. Interact with Lost Towers on the map and add Tablets to them to make these events stronger and appear more on the map.
What Happens When You Die in Atlas of World Map?
Around the Map Device, you will see six portals that remain active as long as you do not die. You can use each of these portals once to travel back to the Ziggurat. If you die on the Map, you get sent back to the Refuge, and the area/node that you died in will get marked as ‘Attempted’. However, you will need a new Waystone to travel to that area and try to complete it.
About Atlas Skill Tree
The Atlast Skill Tree acts as a new skill tree, exclusively for the end-game content. Here you can turn on plenty of of passive skills to make the endgame a more rewarding experience. The key challenge here is prioritizing the best skill and leaving the rest for later.
Tips For Atlas Of Worlds Skills
Here are some tips to get started:
- Prioritize on Waystones. Add skills that help you with raising the number of Waystones.
- An interesting skill is one that increases the mob spawn rate, to help farm items more quickly. It can be a double-edged sword, as you have to deal with an increased number of enemies.
- When in doubt, always respec. You can respec skills to gear towards what you need at the moment. Shift the skill tree to cater to your needs, whether for leveling up or finding rare items.
