Nioh 3 – How to Reach the Crucible Wraith in Tenryu River

When exploring one of the first areas of Nioh 3, Tenryu River, and raising your exploration level up to level 4, you may have noticed a Crucible Wraith located in the southern part of the region. However, after investigating further, you can’t seem to find any way to reach it.

This can be frustrating for players who want to complete every task within a region before moving on to the next, especially for those who consider themselves completionists. I understand the feeling as I spent hours looking for a solution, but to no avail.

As it turns out, the answer to reaching this Crucible Wraith lies in a different region altogether. Here’s how to reach the Crucible Wraith in Tenryu River in Nioh 3.

In order to use the Spirit Vein in Tenryu River and reach the Crucible Wraith, players need to make it to the Kamo Village region of the Heian time period. In other words, even though players can get close to the Crucible Wraith of Tenryu River within the first hours of the game, they won’t be able to reach it until about 20 hours later.

Players naturally reach this area through main story progression and will reach it after defeating the Great Tengu boss of Mt. Kurama. Players are teleported to Mt. Kurama after beating the final boss of the Warring States time period, Takeda Singen.

After you defeat Great Tengu of Mt. Kurama and make it to Kamo Village, you will be rewarded with the Kurama Tengu Guardian. This Guardian has the capability to wall jump through the use of Spirit Veins, allowing you to use the Spirit Vein in Tenryu River and reach the Crucible Wraith.

Keep this in mind going forward, as there will be other times when you can’t reach something due to not having the right ability. As it turns out, Nioh 3 has some Metroidvania elements in that regard.

After using the Spirit Vein to reach the Crucible Wraith in Tenryu River in Nioh 3, you will be placed up against a lightning beast. While this isn’t a boss, it’s definitely a difficult fight, so make sure to bring your A game.

Once you have defeated the lightning beast, you will be rewarded with the following: Enhanced Raiju Soul Core, Transformed Art Mist Slash Lightning, and a handful of loot drops (Epic).

Additionally, if you search the surrounding area, you will also find Samurai Locks on a corpse and rare loot. The corpse can be found hanging off the ledge of the cliff, just a little bit past where the lightning beast was originally resting.
