Once you reach Sukhothai, you can pick up several side quests apart from the main story quest. There is one particular Discovery quest called A Serpent’s Chest, and to complete the quest you need to locate 3 secret keys. These keys are scattered in 3 different regions, and it is up to you to retrieve them for the quest. In this guide, we will detail how to get all the keys and solve the Serpent’s Chest puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Serpent’s Chest Location In Indiana Jones And The Great Circle
Make your way to Voss Camp and head into the barracks on the east side. You can enter the barracks through the open windows. Once inside, investigate the tables to find an ornate box with a serpent carved on it. There is a note right beside the serpent’s chest, pick it up and read Voss’s Letter to start the Serpent’s Chest Quest.
How To Complete A Serpent’s Chest Discovery Side Quest
While reading the note, it will tell you about three hidden keys in the Vatican, Gizeh, and Shanghai. You now need to revisit these regions to collect the keys for the chest.
Ancient Vatican Key Location
We will make our way to the Vatican first to collect the first secret key. Make your way to the Tower of Nicholas V and go down the tower. Go past The Sacred Wounds Puzzle and keep finding paths that go down deeper into the tower. You will soon reach a half-lowered grill, crouch down and go below it, then go straight and turn left and go down the stairs on your left. You will soon reach the sewers, and there is another opening on your right that you can crawl through.
Use your whip to swing up, then keep heading straight down the passage till you have to jump down. Immediately turn right and head down the doorway and keep going straight. You will come across an area filled partially with water, jump down and walk across to the opening ahead. Turn left from the gate and go up the stairs, then crouch and crawl down the hole in the wall.
Keep going straight till you have to drop down, then head left. Follow along the path till you reach a crossroad, take the left side path, and continue down the corridor towards the doorway. You will reach an area with water below you. Jump into the water and locate an opening on the wall beside you and swim under it. You might need your Rebreather for this. Along the way, you have to push aside a log to make progress. At the end of the passage you can get up, and you will find a large earthen pot with the Ancient Vatican Key leaning in front of it.
Ancient Gizeh Key Location
The remainder of the keys are pretty easy to get. Let’s get the one in Gizeh first. Revisit the region, then make your way to the Khentkawes Dig Site in the southern section of the map. Go all the way down till you reach the elevator, then enter any of the doorways straight ahead and head right. You will find a flight of stairs leading up, go up and enter the room on your left.
Jump down into the water and use your Rebreather. You will come across a log blocking your path. Push the log aside and keep swimming till you spot a raised platform, get on it to collect the Ancient Gizeh Key.
Ancient Shanghai Key Location
For this key, head all the way to the end of the region, where the plane crash took place. Keep backtracking towards the crash site, then jump down and walk under the main gate archway. You will come across a stream below you, jump in, and keep swimming to the right side. You will find another log blocking your path, move it aside and keep swimming. You will find a raised platform that you can climb on and collect the Ancient Shanghai Key.
With all three keys with you, make your way back to the Serpent’s Chest. Use the keys to unlock it and collect one Ancient Relic. While it may not seem as much, you will need it for your Ancient Relic collection. There are tons of other Ancient Relics to find, like the 10 Ancient Relics in Vatican City, so do check that out.
