The world of Indiana Jones is vast enough that you have plenty of exploring to do to collect all the artifacts and relics. The further into the game you go, the more difficult things start to get. This includes the puzzles you will find across the various regions, but solving them is essential to the gameplay. Once you reach Sukhothai, you have to solve a long puzzle involving Cogwheels, which unlocks an achievement as well.
There are 10 cogwheels scattered all across Sukhothai for you to find and solve the Khmer Cogwheel Puzzle. In this guide, we will help you out on exactly that.
How To Start The Khmer Cogwheel Puzzle In Indiana Jones And The Great Circle
The Khmer Cogwheel puzzles fall under the Discovery set of side quests in Sukhothai. Once you reach the main camp, talk to Tongdang and purchase the Sukhothai Cogwheels book to make it easier to find all the cogwheels. If you don’t get the option to purchase the book yet, you need to purchase the Rebreather from him first. Now that you have the Sukhothai map, you can continue trying to locate all 10 Cogwheels for the puzzle.
All Khmer Cogwheel Locations And Puzzle Solution
The route we are going to take to find all the Cogwheels will start from the top portion of the map, making our way down the western section, and then picking up on the eastern section. As you keep collecting cogwheels, in a couple of places, there will be puzzles to be solved as well. Once you solve the puzzle, you then take all the cogwheels collected so far and move to the next location. That way, by the end, you will have all 10 cogwheels.
Cogwheels #1,2 & 3 Location
There are three cogwheels to find near the stream in front of the Hidden Pyramid. Once you reach the passage that leads to the pyramid, you will find two platforms on either side. Hop out of your boat and step on the left side platform to collect 3 Cogwheels here.
Cogwheels #4 & #5 Location | Cogwheel Puzzle #1
Your next location will be just southeast of Waterfall Ruins. There is a small island here that you can step on and head north to find a totem near a hole in the ground. Get into the hole and pick up the fourth cogwheel off the ground, then turn to your right to find a puzzle on the wall. There is a fifth cogwheel already up there, so place all your collected cogwheels in the puzzle.
All you need to do here is rearrange all the cogs on the poles so each smaller and mid-sized cog connects to the largest cogs located on the top and bottom of the puzzle area. We have put up the solution above to make things easier. Pull the lever on the left side of the puzzle to start up the cogs. If all the cogs start spinning, the gate beside you will open up and you can collect an Ancient Relic. Pick up all five cogs here and continue to the next location.
Cogwheels #6 & #7 Location | Cogwheel Puzzle #2
We will be going down the stream towards Wat Mahathat next. Hop out and run up the hill north to find another totem and a hole in the ground next to it. There is another cogwheel puzzle to solve here, but first pick up the smaller cogwheel from the ground and place it in the puzzle area. There is already another small cog attached, so place this one there too. You need to add three more, making it a total of 5 cogwheels, to solve the puzzle. We have the solution to the puzzle put down for you below.
Collect the Ancient Relic beyond the locked gate and also pick up all the cogwheels before you leave.
Cogwheel #8 Location | Cogwheel Puzzle #3
Next, we are heading down west towards Wat Si Sawai. Again, find a hole in the ground to reach another cogwheel puzzle. You will require 6 cogwheels to solve the puzzle, and we have put up the solution for it below.
Pick up the Ancient Relic and all your cogwheels, then make your way to the next location.
Cogwheel #9 Location | Cogwheel Puzzle #4
Make your way east from Jongdang’s Hut. On the east side you will spot a stone wall blocking your path. You need to dive underwater using your Rebreather to get to the other side. Once that is done, hop onto the platform and drop down the hole to find the next cogwheel puzzle. You need 9 cogwheels for this puzzle, and the solution is put up below.
Again, pick up the Ancient Relic from the unlocked room and also collect all your cogwheels before you exit.
Cogwheel #10 Location | Cogwheel Puzzle #5
By now you should have 9 cogwheels on you, so one more to go. For the last cogwheel, make your way east of Wat Chana Songkhram and you will spot another blocked area in the water. Dive underwater and make your way through the hole in the wall. After you reach the other side, go up the path and jump down the final hole to solve the final puzzle.
The only tricky part about this puzzle is that none of the cogs should touch the cog covered with vines in the middle of the puzzle. Arrange all the cogs to unlock the gate, collect the Ancient Relic, then collect all 10 cogs to start the final cog puzzle.
Final Cogwheel Puzzle Solution
Check your map to locate the final puzzle and make your way to the northern section of Sukhothai. Find the hole in the floor and jump down to reach the final puzzle.
Place the cogwheels on the puzzle wall in the order shown above to solve it. Ignore the wheel that is covered in vines and arrange all the cogs in order to unlock the final gate and collect the Ancient Relic.
You are now in possession of 6 Ancient Relics and you will also get the Gear Head achievement for solving the Khmer Cogwheels Puzzle. But this isn’t all the puzzles to solve in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as we have guides covering the one in the Date to Remember quest and the Gold Path Trail puzzle.
