Unlocking a secret weapon is always a treat in a video game. Battlefield 2042 has a hidden weapon locked away behind complex challenges. Some of them need to be performed in a specific order to execute them properly and complete the objective. Here in the guide, we will give you a complete route on how to unlock the Prototype Secret Weapon and its skin in Battlefield 2042.
Complete Guide To The Prototype Gun in Battlefield 2042

We have to jump through four different steps to get our hands on the Prototype gun in the game. Here are all of them:
- Collecting a Hidden Keycard
- Unlock the Phantom Suit
- Input the Proper Passcodes
- Unlock the Prototype gun
Collecting a Hidden Keycard
Objective: Create a Portal Server on the Battle of the Bulge map at night and shoot down three angel statues in the proper order, targeting specific parts of the statue to get the Keycard.
- When you are hosting the server on the Battle of the Bulge map, make sure to put up a password at the end, so we can be alone on the map to carry out the objectives without any distractions.
Note: If you can’t create a server on the map, keep trying, and eventually you will get to create one.
- When you enter the game, choose Engineer, and for the vehicle, pick Kübelwagen light transport. That’s it, now spawn in the map. Now we are all set to complete two objectives in the map.
Objective #1: Shoot down the Wing and Head of an Angel Statue in the Church.

Head over to the D1 objective marker on the map, and it will take you to a church area. Here, right next to the giant tree, you will see two angel statues close to each other. Take aim and break both wings of the angel on the right and shoot off the head of the angel on the left. Now throw a dynamite at the angel on the right (One with the broken wings) and blow it to complete the first objective. Once you have done everything in a proper order, you will get a Securing Objective 15 XP pop-up at the bottom of the screen.
Objective #2: Destroy the head of an angel statue found in the graveyard on the map.

Take the Kübelwagen to the E1 objective marker, and you will come across an old graveyard on your way. Head to the middle of the graveyard, and you will find a lone angel statue in a fire circle. Just pull out your gun and shoot the head of the statue. Once the head is completely destroyed, interact with the bottom part of the statue, and you will get a pop-up PICK UP KEYCARD. Hold the interact button to pick the hidden Keycard.
Unlock Phantom Skin

Objective: You have to carry out a specific action in five different spots on the Exposure map.
- Just like the last time, host a server, but this time on the Exposure map.
- Choose Falck as a specialist and then select a crossbow with explosive bolts. If you haven’t had it unlocked, then you can always use a grenade launcher.
- Once you are deployed on the map, make a sprint towards the A1 objective.
Note: Many players have stated that using a vehicle of any kind on the map breaks the unlock. So, to be on the safer side, just walk to the objective.
In the A1 objective place, look for the American flag. Stand next to the flag and then equip the crossbow or grenade launcher to shoot at the ground to injure yourself. After getting injured, use the syringe pistol, aim at the ground, and shoot, then walk over to the spot to heal yourself. Repeat this process 10 times of getting intentionally hurt and healing yourself. Self-healing doesn’t work; you have to shoot the syringe pistol to heal.
Note: Don’t get yourself killed by performing this activity. Always heal after injuring yourself. Stay close to the flag when you are doing this activity.
After performing the activity 10 times at the A1 area, head to the B1, B2, D1, and C1 areas (in that order). In all of these areas, you must find the flag spot and continue to injure and heal yourself 10 times using the crossbow or grenade launcher and syringe pistol. When you are finally done with the C1 area, we can move forward to the last step on the line.

Don’t leave the C1 objective; you can see the circle around the C1 objective on the minimap at the bottom left of the HUD. While staying inside the C1 circle, open up the call-in tablet, and call for LATV4 Recon under Light Transport. Once you get inside the vehicle, you will unlock support Phantom skins in the game. They are: Resurrection Man, Dearly Departed, and Pharmakon specialist set Phantom skins.
You will see the unlocks at the top of the screen. Once you see the skins getting activated, disconnect from the game, get to the main menu to continue with the rest of the process.
Input the Proper Passcodes

Objective: Input four sets of codes into the Keypad to unlock the hidden door in A1 objective.
Since we are already going with Falck, choose the Pharmakon phantom skin for her. Now, create a Portal server on the Iwo Jima conquest map and choose Falck with her Pharmakon skin equipped. Falck will be our support specialist for the job. Always pick a support specialist for this step.
Now on the map, head to the C1 objective, and below the spot, you will find a giant drill or vault with a steel staircase to its left. Here, to the left of the drill under the staircase, you will find a keypad with 4 red lights on the top. We must turn all the red lights green by inputting the proper sequence of numbers.
On the keypad, you have four buttons next to the digital screen. Here are the buttons:
- Clear – Clears the digit.
- Increment – Increases the digit by one.
- Decrement – Decreases a digit by one.
- Submit Digit – Submits the digit to the keypad.
The digital screen shows you the number. You can change the number by pressing the Increment or Decrement button. Increment raises a number by one, and Decrement lowers it by one.
- Input the First Code: 2-5-0-1-4-6 – Use the Increment button, press it two times, and you will see the number 2 on the digital screen, then hit submit. Now carry out the same process for 5-0-1-4-6. This will turn the first red light green.
- Input the Second Code: 6-1-3-2-5-1 – Again, using the same Increment and Decrement buttons to add the code and submit it. This will turn on the second red light into green.
- Input the Third Code: 5-1-5-1-7-6 – Add the code to turn the third red light green.
- Input the Fourth Code: 4-4-1-8-0-6 – Finally, enter the fourth code to turn the final red light green.
Once all four red lights have turned green, it will unlock a locked door inside the tunnel of the A1 objective marker on the map.
Unlocking the Prototype Gun

Objective: We will use the Hidden Keycard and Phantom Outfit to bypass the security to get the Prototype gun.
Take your vehicle to the A1 objective spot, head inside the tunnel, pass the giant machine, and get to the small tunnel on the left, one with the red light at its entrance. At the end, use the zip line to get to the upper floor. Near the end of the corridor, you will come across a door with a STOP sign on it with No Exit written above.
Since we input the proper code on the keypad, we can open the door and get inside. Call the elevator and head inside, but when you press the buttons inside the elevator to take it to the bottom floor, make your character prone inside. After pressing the button, immediately get into the prone position, or you can get killed.
After you get out of the elevator, interact with the keycard machine on the left. This keycard machine will take the Keycard we picked up first at the Battle of the Bulge map. Now head inside the new room, and you will find yourself surrounded by four lasers, located at all four corners of the ceiling, aiming at you. They won’t shoot at you because you are wearing the Pharmakon phantom skin for Falck.
Now, interact with the keypad on the other end of the room to open the door to the warehouse. And in the middle of the warehouse, you will find the Prototype weapon behind glass. Just break the glass, walk inside, and grab the gun. That’s it, now you have the Prototype gun in Battlefield 2042.
Skin for the Prototype Gun
Head to the side of the room filled with monitors, and interact with the shelf across the monitors to find a skin for the Prototype weapon. The room has a good amount of easter eggs scattered throughout its area.
The Prototype Gun Overview
The Prototype is an early model of the BOFORS from Battlefield 2142; it serves as an easter egg in Battlefield 2042.
- It has thermal sight for heat detection.
- It has the full-auto option
- And it is also equipped with an airburst mode
These are the reasons why the gun is extremely powerful and will come in very handy for a more tactic-based gameplay in Battlefield 2042.
