How To Get The Gauss Gun In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Set in a dystopian, mutant-infected Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, you, as a Stalker, have to learn how to prepare yourself and survive the unknown ahead. You make several choices along the way that will impact your gameplay for better or for worse. You also get to meet some interesting characters and learn how to survive the post-apocalyptic Zone. To help you out, you can scavenge the overworld for loot and stashes which give you important items like weapons and suits. With these, you are all set to take control and follow through the main questline.

Since finding the best weapons in the game is a crucial element in Stalker 2, you might be on the lookout for the ones that deal the most damage. This is where the Gauss Gun comes in, and this article on how to get the Gauss Gun in Stalker 2.

The only way to get the Gauss Gun is from a drop by attacking Monolith Soldiers, and these enemy encounters happen very late in the game. Monolith Soldiers usually spawn anywhere beyond the Red Forest and pass through Yaniv and beyond. The first time you can get a Gauss Gun drop is after you visit the Yaniv Station. You will get to this location during The Boundary quest, and the Monolith Soldiers will spawn around the area after you are done talking to the guard in charge of the station.

Only one random soldier amongst the group will have the Gauss Gun, so shoot them all then loot their bodies to get it. If you don’t find the Gauss Gun in this location, reload a past save and get to the checkpoint again to kill more Monolith Soldiers. Some other places where Monolith Soldiers will spawn are in Prypiyat and Generators, and both locations have a high chance of dropping a Gauss Gun. If you head over to Prypiyat and visit the Prometheus Movie Theater, there is a guaranteed Gauss Gun resting on the table inside the building. You would probably reach these locations while picking up quests for Strelok, or if you choose to kill him in a later quest.

How To Use The Gauss Gun

The gun function is pretty simple, and comes in two variants. You can either get the one with a scope or without, so you can use it for long as well as mid-range but is not suited for close combat. The Gauss Gun is more suited for headshots and single kills, and it comes with a meter reading on the side of the gun to show you the bullet range when fired. The only difference between the Gauss gun and other guns is that it requires Batteries to use it. You can increase the magazine size from 10 to 20 if you have the High Capacity Gauss Magazine attachment.

As for ammo, the only way to farm ammo for the Gauss Gun is to keep killing Monolith Soldiers and looting their corpses. Since ammo will be very limited, you can keep this gun in your inventory and use it only when you need this high damaging weapon. But this isn’t the only gun that Stalker 2 has to offer, as we have guides covering how to get the AR416 and AKM-74S that you can check out to know more.
