When all you have on hand is a handful of raw materials, feeding your people in Aska becomes an incredibly daunting task. Since ASKA is a Viking-themed survival game with a focus on settlement building and village management, without food and water, it is impossible to establish a Viking tribe in Aska.

There are three main ways to get food in ASKA. In this guide, we will talk about how to get food and cook to help you get started. So, let’s begin!

How to Get Food in ASKA

How to Get Food in ASKA

In Aska, there are four primary methods of getting food: foraging, farming, hunting, and fishing.

Foraging involves gathering wild food that grows naturally across the island. While this method is straightforward, it has limitations. As forageables take considerable time to regrow, players will need to explore increasingly distant areas from their settlement as the game progresses.

Farming offers a sustainable approach to food production. Players can utilize seeds obtained through foraging to cultivate crops within their settlement boundaries. This method requires the construction of a farm and multiple crop fields to be effective.

Hunting provides an additional food source. Certain wild animals, such as Wulfars, can be hunted for their meat. Similarly, fishing presents another option for protein acquisition. Players can craft a Flimsy Fishing Rod to catch fish from the ocean.

It’s important to note that while hunting and fishing are valuable supplementary food sources, relying solely on meat to sustain a village population would be challenging. A diversified approach, incorporating multiple food acquisition methods, is recommended for optimal settlement growth and survival.

How to Cook Food in Aska

You can cook food in two different ways, each offering different advantages:

    1. Barbecue Grilling: The first method is to use a Barbecue Add-On attached to a Campfire. This option becomes available relatively early in the game. Players can assign a villager to operate the barbecue, automating the cooking process. While convenient, this method produces basic heated food items.
    2. Crock Pot Cooking: The second, more advanced method utilizes a Crock Pot within a Cooking House. This technique allows for more complex and nutritious meal preparation. Crock Pot recipes typically combine water with four different ingredients, resulting in dishes that offer superior nutritional value and beneficial status effects.

So, which method should you go for?

While the Barbecue Add-On provides a quick and accessible cooking solution, the Cooking House method yields higher quality results. Meals prepared in the Crock Pot generally offer greater nutritional benefits and more potent stat bonuses compared to their barbecued counterparts.

You should consider your current game progression and resource availability when choosing between these cooking methods. As the game advances, transitioning from barbecue grilling to Crock Pot cooking can significantly enhance the well-being and performance of village inhabitants.

So, that’s the end of our guide on how to get and cook food in ASKA. Wondering how to get water? Be sure to check this guide out!
