When you are playing a survival role-playing game like Enshrouded, the game will get lonely, and you will need a companion right away, what better animal to kill the loneliness in the game than getting a cat of your own? If you are seeing cats in the game and don’t know how to tame them. This guide is for you, with the new Souls of the Frozen Frontier update, now we can tame cats and other animals. Here we are going to delve into all the steps you need to know to get a cat in Enshrouded and make a sweet home for the animal in our house.
Guide To Tame A Cat In Enshrouded
We will need to finish the initial cat quest to get every little thing related to cats. Going through the quest will allow us to get a cat, and craft a special bed and bowl for the cat in our house. Without further ado, here is how you can tame a cat in Enshrouded.
Craft The Bait For The Cat
- First, you need to talk to an Alchemist, he will hand us a mission “Cat Search “. The mission has a lot of objectives, but the first is to craft the bait for the cat.
- To craft the bait for the cat, talk to the farmer and craft the “Cat Food Bait” with the following ingredients:
- Raw lean Meat x2
- Killing Rabbits or any small creatures to get it.
- Raw Wolf Meat x1
- Kill wolves in the area
- Raw Game x 1
- Going for large predators will earn you game meat
- Stinging Nettle x1
- Can be harvested in the world
- Raw lean Meat x2
Head To The Alchemist Tower
Once you have all the ingredients, craft 3 * Cat Food Bait. Now with the bait in our backpack, it’s time to hit the next part of the quest: “Reach the Alchemist’s Tower” at Lone Thistle. Open up the map, and set up the waypoint to the Alchemist Tower.
The tower is located northeast of Ancient Spire Springland Fast Travel Point. Travel to the fast travel point and then make your way to the waypoint.
At the bottom of the alchemist tower, you will find the cat, here you will also encounter some rats as well. First thing first, clear all the rats in the area before making your move on the cat.
How To Tame The Cat
We will have to use bait and a lot of slow walking to earn the trust of the cat.
- Don’t stand, always crouch or you scare away the cat. Once you are near the cat, go to your inventory and equip the Cat Food Bait that we made earlier to the shortcut at the bottom of the screen.
Question Mark Sign: If the cat has a Question Mark on it, then you need to stop moving or you will fail to tame it.
- Now throw the bait near the cat, after a few seconds the cat will walk up to the food and start eating it. Here is our window to approach the cat. Start crouching slowly to the cat, it will look at you, and when it does you will see a question mark indicator over its head. When that happens, you need to stop moving and give the cat a bit of breathing room.
Note: The cat will have three empty hearts over them. We need to fill up all three empty hearts to earn its trust.
- Once you get close to the cat, press E to pet it. One heart bar out of three will be filled. Once you pet the cat, make your way back to the original location, don’t stay close or the cat will get alerted.
Exclamation Sign: The Cat’s alertness status is indicated by an Exclamation Sign over the cat’s head. If you stay close to the cat after petting for one time, the alert meter will fill up and the cat will get scared. And we will have to repeat the taming process all over again.
- Throw another piece of the “Cat Food Bait ” on the ground, repeat the same steps to pet the cat, and again walk away from the cat. Now another heart will be filled with red, we need to pet the cat one last time to earn its trust.
- Repeat the same steps for the third time. This time all the hearts over the cat will be filled. It will not run away, the game will give us the option to pick up the cat. When you pick the cat, our objective will then change to Place the Cat in your Home.
Once you place the cat in your house, it will ask us to make a bed and a food bowl. Animals are never that easy to please, so it’s time to make the cat feel special in the house.
Craft Cat Pillow, Cat Bowl & Cat Food
Now place the cat anywhere in your house, it will roam around the room and you can pet it anytime. No need to constantly feed the cat to get its attention unlike a real cat, the cat in Enshrouded can be interacted with as many times as possible.
Buff: You will also get a buff when you pet the cat, Paw’s Touch (Buff +25 Health for 30 minutes).
Now head back to the farmer because we are about to give the cat its own bowl, bed, and constant source of food.

With Cat Pillow, Cat Bowl, and Cat food in our backpack, go back to your house. Place the items anywhere in the house. You can place the Cat Pillow anywhere cozy, next to a fireplace would look perfect.
Put the Cat Bowl, and interact with it to add Cat food. The max cap of food in the bowl is limited to 50. That’s it, now you can tame any cat in the world, make sure to pack in some bait before you plan to play Pokemon in Enshrouded.
