Extraction of resources is crucial in any survival game and The Forever Winter is no exception. From ammunition to weapons attachments, this Fun Dog Studios co-op tactical extraction shooter title has Extraction Zones for you to scour. Here is how to extract in The Forever Winter.
How To Access Extraction Zones In The Forever Winter
To extract resources from an Extraction Zone, enter the zone and tap E on your keyboard. Your first time experiencing a raid on The Forever Winter will be difficult as you will be clueless when it comes to directions. Hence, it is imperative to learn the layout of every zone that you enter.
Getting familiarized with the layout is not an easy task as the game has a post-apocalyptic backdrop, making the area that much more difficult to get a sense of. Hence, prioritize collecting essential items like water to help you survive the cold and gather other resources.
Locating the Extraction Zone will become easier once you spend some time in the game, as you will eventually receive a new HUD marker (a hazy box on top of your screen) showing its location. Once you move closer to that area, the box will start getting sharper and more clearly visible, till you then see it right on the main screen as well.
The game will try its best to make things as frantic as it can as you come closer to extracting yourself successfully: a countdown will start before you can extract. The last thing you want is to be killed by enemies, so be super careful and avoid them as much as you can.
What Happens If You Die Mid-Raid In The Forever Winter?
Since The Forever Winter is an extraction shooter game, if you die while you are in the middle of a raid, you will lose all the items that you have accumulated. Hence, you will have to be aware of your surroundings, while looting for essential items. Enemies in this game are quite unpredictable and due to its horror genre, you will have plenty of jump scares.
Items that you will lose are as follows:
- Essential Items
- Consumables
- Upgrades
- Weapons
The only thing that you can hold on to is your character’s Experience Points (XP). It is important to note that you will have to let go of your Weapon XP as it will be lost if you die mid-raid.
Developed by Fun Games Studios, The Forever Winter is a co-op tactical extraction shooter game where you must loot the dead and escape the conflict to hold on to your resources. The game is in its early-access stage and was released at 12 pm PST / 3 pm EST on September 25.
