If you stood by The Ward after entering and surviving the Zone in Stalker 2, eventually you’ll find yourself on a mission called “The Boundary” which will lead you to Pripyat. But, during this mission, you will meet Dmytro Nor and have the chance to give him a Scanner-M. But should you give Nor the scanner or not in Stalker 2 and what difference does it make? Let’s find out.

The Boundary Mission In Stalker 2
During “The Boundary” mission in Stalker 2, you will need to convince Spirit to let you into a Spark Bunker to retrieve the Scanner-M from there. If you are allied with the Ward then there are a few hoops to jump to get the access but if you’re sided with Spark, you can have Star convince Spirit to give you the bunker key card.
At the bunker, you will not just find the scanner but also Dmytro Nor who is also looking for the scanner. Here you will have the option to either give the Scanner-M to Nor or keep it for yourself. Both choices do have some consequences on where you go next and what rewards you get.
What Happens If You Give Scanner To Nor
If you choose to give the Scanner-M to Nor in Stalker 2, you will receive a Pripyat permit in exchange along with a hefty sum of coupons as a reward for it. However, this is reduced for higher difficulties. Here is how much you get as a reward for each difficulty:
- Rookie (Easy): 32,391 Coupons
- Stalker (Medium): 24,000 Coupons
- Veteran (Hard): 18,000 Coupons
What Happens If You Keep The Scanner
Choosing to keep the Scanner-M for yourself instead of giving it to Nor means you won’t get the Pripyat pass or the coupon reward. Instead, you will unlock an alternate route into Pripyat through the tunnels west of Yaniv Station. These tunnels are treacherous areas to pass through as multiple electric anomalies are patrolling them back and forth. However, with the help of the scanner, you can get rid of them and open up a passage into Pripyat.
Give The Scanner To Nor Or Keep It?
You should give the scanner to Nor as it is ultimately the better option which gives you a whole bunch of coupons and an easy official entry into Pripyat. The scanner is of no use to you other than using it to gain access to Pripyat which you can do much easily with a Pripyat pass. While the other route also leads you to Pripyat, it is a much tougher route.
However, from a lore and story-telling perspective, you can make a decision basis which faction you are generally leaning toward. The good thing is, this gets you entry into Pripyat, which has some of the best gear waiting to be discovered. You can check out our guide on the best end-game build in Stalker 2.
