Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 has several mechanics that make the gameplay tense and exciting. While it throws huge numbers of enemies your way, it also gives you and your squadmates all the ammunition to defeat them. In your battles, however, you may have spotted a message saying Mortal Wound Received. If you are not clear on what that means, and how to remove it, we have, in this guide, detailed out all that you need to know on Mortal Wounds in Space Marine 2; including how to remove this status as well.

What Are Mortal Wounds In Space Marine 2?

A Mortal Wound status is inflicted on you if you have been incapacitated during a mission. In the first two lower difficulty settings (Minimal or Average), the status is inflicted after getting incapacitated two times, while in the higher difficulty settings (Substantial or Ruthless), it is inflicted on getting incapacitated once. By Incapacitated, we mean you have lost all HP and your teammates have revived you. On receiving a Mortal Wound, the health bar on the top left of your screen will have a skull-like symbol.

If your HP reaches zero with a Mortal Wound active,

    • you lose all the items that you have collected (including Gene Seeds) except for Armory Data.
    • a timer gets activated, and you can respawn back into the mission only on completion of the timer. You respawn with only half your max health.
    • if your teammates also do not survive, the team respawns at the nearest checkpoint with the initial loadout.

As it is clear, this is a highly avoidable scenario. Hence, the best thing to do, as soon as you are inflicted with this status is to find a way to get it out and cure yourself of the Mortal Wounds. There are a few ways to go about it, which we have listed below.

How To Cure Mortal Wounds In Space Marine 2

You can cure the Mortal Wounds status in Space Marine 2 by using either a Stimm or a Guardian Relic. Lets look at these two in detail.

    Find Stimms and Heal

Healing yourself using Stimms is the best and safest way to restore your HP and get you out of the Mortal Wounds status. The only problem with this method is that locating Stimms can be a bit hard, especially if you don’t have one on you while you are in a pinch. But if you do have a Stimm, consider yourself lucky and use it ASAP. Even if you get to restore just half your HP by using the Stimm, you can still make it to the next checkpoint and then find more to heal fully.

    Find Guardian Relics

The second best method but also the hardest method to deal with, locating Guardian Relics will erase the Mortal Wounds status effectively. However, Guardian Relics spawn at random across Operations, so there is no sure chance of you getting to one when you really need it. But when you do find one, it will give you an instant revive and cure you of Mortal Wounds. By locating Guardian Relics, you won’t require the help of your teammates to revive you. Guardian Relics will give off a faint glow that you can notice from a distance, so exploration is key here if you are trying to get to one

    Respawn Into The Mission

The final method of healing Mortal Wounds in Space Marine 2 is to get yourself killed and respawn at the nearest checkpoint. For this method, you need to coordinate with your squad and plan your death ahead of time. After you respawn, you will be cured of this status effect and you can continue the mission with half your HP.

Note: If you choose this method to remove Mortal Wounds, keep in mind that there is a short timer before you spawn back in. This method of curing Mortal Wounds is not recommended when you and your squad are in danger
