Mining System in Dark and Darker – How Does it Work?

Dark and Darker Mining System Explained

In Dark and Darker, you will sometimes come across Cobalt and Rubysilver ore veins that you can mine using pickaxes. You can get one from the Weaponsmith or Woodsman merchant for 25 Gold. Once you have it, go into your inventory and place the Pickaxe in your utility slot (It consumes a 2*3 space).

Since ore veins are rare and spawn in different locations depending on the dungeon, make sure you explore as much as you can when you hop into a run. Once you find one, interact with the ore veins with the pickaxe in the utility slot, and you’ll start mining for resources. You will need to interact with the ore veins around 4-5 times, after which the deposit breaks and you’ll get your ore in the inventory.

Why Do You Need Ores in Dark and Darker?

Now that you know how to get it, you must be wondering – what’s the point of all this? Well, mining is a pretty cool system in the game that serves two purposes: selling and crafting.

Here’s what you can do with the ores you mined in Dark and Darker:

    Sell To Other Players

Gold is a precious resource in Dark and Darker. It lets you buy new gear and consumables to make you stronger during your dungeon raids. If you’ve got extra ores lying around in your inventory, you can put them up for sale by going to the Trading Master once you reach level 5. Other players will see your ores and can take them off your hand, leaving you with a good bit of Gold.

    Refine to Craft Gear

If you’d rather not sell your ores, you can refine them to craft better gear for your character. You can refine your collected ores into Powder or Ingots, depending on what you’re trying to craft.

To turn them into Powder, take your ores to the Alchemist. Once you have enough Powder, you can go to Leathersmith, switch to the Service tab and craft the gears you want.

To turn your ores into Ingot, go to the Armourer and switch to the Service tab. You can also craft gears using Ingots from this tab.

And that covers everything on mining in Dark & Darker. Also, if you are struggling to make a clean escape after collecting all the precious loot in the game, do check out our guide on how to escape in Dark & Darker
