Satisfactory blew the doubters with the release of a Factorio game set in first-person mode. It was a risky niche when it began its journey in the Epic store, but quickly people got to see the uniqueness the game had to offer. There are many reasons behind the success of Satisfactory from its limited hand-holding to the balance of gameplay complexity over time. With the new update around the corner, here are some of the best starting locations for Satisfactory.
The Best Starting Area For Satisfactory
The game gives us four starting areas to choose from, each one of the biomes has its bag full of surprises.
Note: While all the biomes are different from each other, you should take all the information with a grain of salt, as recent updates are anything to go by, the nodes in the biomes are constantly changing. If you claim a favorite spot on any of the lands, the later updates might make you rethink your decision.
Grass Fields
If you are starting this game, there is a 99% chance you would pick the Grass Fields Biome over the others. One of the best things about Grass Field is its views and the quality of the land. The amount of materials available from the start helps the new player a lot in figuring out the game at their own pace.
Upside Of Grass Fields
We will recommend any new player to start in the Grass Fields, especially pick the Blue Crater Lake, it’s a bit more difficult to reach so make sure you are ready before you make a move to the region, the enemies in the Blue Crater Lake bite hard. But it all will be worth it in the end.
The Grass Field has plenty of nodes for the initial phase of construction, you will have an abundant amount of nodes such as Quartz Nodes, Sulfur Nodes, Coal Nodes, Foilage for Biogenerators, and Caterium Nodes.
Downside Of Grass Fields
The factories built in this biome will look good but there is a downside to Grass Field. Which lies in node purity, compared to other biomes the purity level is too low in the land. Grass Field is perfect for the initial stage, but you will soon find the land to empty when looking for high-end resources for the later stage of development.
Northern Forest
Another fan favorite next to Grass Fields is the deep jungle of Northern Forest. And we can see why many players immediately go for the Northern Forest right after Grass Fields.
Upside Of Northern Forest
Many players will deem the Northern Forest overpowered, as the starting area is filled with way too many options for different nodes. Northern Forest quickly allows access to Copper, Iron, Coal nodes, Limestone, and Water, making it a perfect choice for a variety of buildings.
The other aspect of why Northern Forest is an overpowered one for many, is the amount of trees present in the area. Which will make gathering biomass far too easy compared to the two deserts on the list.
Downside Of Northern Forest
But the area here is not flat, you are going to have trouble building factories here. You need to rule out anything big here, but if you are shooting for small factories, you can set up some of them. Aesthetically Northern Forest has good views but compared to Grass Fields it falls flat.
Rocky Desert
As of now, Rockey Desert is also a great choice for the starting location, the amount of coal storage will attract anybody who has gotten used to the gameplay of Satisfactory.
Upside of Rocky Desert
The Rocky Desert is a perfect place for intermediate players who know how to work around the system of the game. Unlike the biomes of Grass field where every node is available from the start, here you will get access to the premium ones. The purity level is also higher in the Rocky Desert. Coal Nodes take the gold here, you will find a good amount of coal to start up a Coal or Steel power facility.
Downside Of Rocky Desert
Rocky Desert lacks in the Sulfur Nodes, if you become reliant on using Sulfur to start your game, you are going to have a difficult time managing in Rocky Desert.
Dune Desert
The desert looks peaceful and has plenty of flat surfaces but if you are new to the game, you will find yourself surrounded by a lot of problems by picking Dune Desert.
Upside Of Dune Desert
From the get-go, you will have good-quality node purity and the flatness of the land begs for large-scale construction. The aesthetics of the land are beautiful, if you are new to desert vibes, you will love the Dune Desert settings.
Downside Of Dune Desert
The only thing you have to struggle with here is the biomass. You have to walk up to the water source to get some biomass. The trip to get to the water source depends on the starting place in the desert. As you can see how new players might struggle in here without any experience in the game.
Another difficulty of this location is the nodes, they are not placed in one specific place, and all the nodes are scattered around the map, which is a nightmare for the new player to work around. That’s one of the many reasons why players step into the Dune Desert only in the middle or later part of their gameplay.
Many players save the Dune Desert for the later section of the game, as the lack of biomass puts off a lot of newcomers to build their base in the Dune Desert. If you are looking for a challenging run, then Dune Desert is a perfect place to begin your game.
The updates bring a massive amount of changes to the game, but if you are planning to hit the game now, we recommend you pick the Grass Fields, a perfect place to rule out the first phase of construction.
