Marvel Rivals Season 3, titled The Abyss Awakens, is set to go live on July 11, 2025. This upcoming update will introduce two new Duelist heroes, Phoenix (Jean Grey) and Blade. Phoenix will be playable at launch, whereas Blade will be released later on during the season.

Alongside these new characters, a new symbiote-themed map and a revamped battle pass will also be available. Season 3 also brings a variety of balance changes, adjusting stats and abilities of heroes as well as team-up combos.

That being said, this article will go over the Marvel Rivals Season 3 patch notes and discuss all the changes that have been made in this upcoming update.

Venom is getting a nice buff this season. His crowd control ability, Cellular Corrosion, now slows enemies down more than before, going from 15% to 25%. This means it’ll be easier for him and his team to catch up to or escape from opponents.

The Thing will feel a lot tankier now. He’s going to get a new movement ability called Battle Blitz that lets him leap forward and take 25% less damage while doing so. His Stone Haymaker also got a boost. It can now knock airborne enemies to the ground, making him more effective in mid-air fights.

Namor‘s trident throw will get stronger and faster, with its damage being increased from 70 to 75, and projectile speed getting bumped up to 150 meters per second from 120. This adjustment will make it easier for Namor players to land hits from a distance.

Scarlet Witch received some adjustments to her ultimate, Reality Erasure. While the slow effect it causes was slightly reduced, the damage it deals has gone up from 750 to 850, making her even more dangerous in late game.

Spider-Man has received a small buff. His Get Over Here! Kick now deals 55 damage instead of 50. His midair Spider-Power attacks were also improved, going from 50 to 55 damage. Lastly, his Amazing Combo now does 60 damage, up from 55, giving him a slight edge in close-up fights.

Human Torch got some light nerfs. His fireball damage is now 5.5 instead of 6, making his regular attacks a little weaker. His Burnout Shockwave’s damage was lowered from 80 to 75, and the burn damage over time from his ultimate dropped from 120 to 110 per second. However, he now gives a small 5% team-up bonus as an anchor hero, which could come in handy in coordinated team plays.

Wolverine’s Feral Leap now lasts a bit longer, going from 4 to 5 seconds, but its cooldown was increased to 15 seconds instead of 12. This means you’ll need to be a bit more careful about when to use it.

Winter Soldier’s Roterstern ability also received some adjustments. It now does more consistent damage even at a distance. Its minimum damage was increased from 60% to 70% of the original at 40 meters. This makes him slightly more reliable when targeting enemies from far away.

Invisible Woman got some stat changes to her healing orb. When the orb is sent out, it now heals for 45, instead of the original 40, and deals 25 damage. When it returns, it heals for 35, as compared to the original 40, and deals 15 damage instead of 20. These changes slightly boost her healing and offensive capabilities.

Mantis’ healing flower ability now heals allies based on their maximum health, specifically, 2.5% of their max HP per second. However, the base healing was reduced from 20 per second to 12.5 per second.

Her ultimate ability, Soul Resurgence, costs 4300 energy as compared to her original 3700 energy cost, but it also gives her more max health when she activates it, 150 instead of 100. These changes make her a much better healer in the game.

    Hero Nerfs

Emma Frost’s energy-based Telepathic Pulse damage has been nerfed. At 99 energy, it now does 110 damage per second instead of 120. At 100 energy, it does 140 instead of 150. Her Diamond Form now gives 25% damage reduction instead of 30%, and her ultimate’s energy cost dropped slightly from 3700 to 3400.

Iron Man’s Repulsor Blast in Armor Overdrive now deals less damage. The first two hits are 35 and 45 instead of 40 and 50. His ultimate also costs more energy to use, going up from 2800 to 3400.

The Punisher’s turrets deal a bit less damage now. The Culling Turret projectiles were lowered from 12 to 10 damage, and the Spell Field also dropped from 12 to 10. His ultimate now costs 3700 energy instead of 3400.

Mister Fantastic’s inflated state gives him a smaller health bonus now, which is 350 instead of 400. This change slightly reduces how long he can stay in fights while transformed.

Ultron got hit with some pretty sizeable nerfs to his defensive power. His flight duration was reduced from 8 seconds to 6 seconds. His Firewall ability now gives him 65 extra health instead of 75, and allies get 50 instead of 55.

Loki’s ultimate now costs more to activate, going from 4000 to 4300 energy. That means he won’t be able to use it as often, and you’ll have to time it more carefully.

    Team-Up Adjustments

Team-up abilities have also gone through some major changes this season. Two older team-ups, Stormy Ignition (Storm + Human Torch) and ESU Alumnus (Spider-Man + Squirrel Girl), have been removed from the game for now.

A brand-new combo called Stark Protocol has been added for Iron Man and Squirrel Girl. In this combo, Squirrel Girl rides a modified Stark Tech gauntlet, launching attacks at enemies from above.

Other team-up changes include improvements to Symbiote Shenanigans (Venom teaming up with Hela or Jeff the Land Shark).

Hela now gains a new ability called Hel Tendrils during the combo, and Jeff gets bonus health increased from 50 to 100. The tendrils also last longer, 5 seconds instead of 3, which should give more value during fights.

Meanwhile, Guardian Revival, a combo involving Adam Warlock with either Star-Lord or Mantis, now has a longer cooldown, going from 120 seconds to 135. This means players will have to wait a bit longer before using it again.
