Even if you are the God of War, you will need quality armor on your body to live up to the title. Ragnarok features several high-quality armor sets to make the game different and exciting for the players. This guide is divided into three parts, each focusing on the quality of the armor set up to the game’s progress. Without any waiting, here’s a guide to the best armor sets in God of War Ragnarok. We have put up three armor sets in each early, mid & late game, with our recommendations for the best among the three as well.
Best Early Game Armor Set In God Of War Ragnarok
The list here will primarily focus on the armors with good perks and stats, this will open up the build options to make the game feel new every time. You can take the early-game armor to the end-game with no difficulty if you know what you are doing.
Radiance Armor Set
Stats (Level 9) | Radiance Shoulder Straps | Radiance Gauntlets | Radiance Lost Belt |
STR | 82 | 68 | – |
DEF | 48 | – | 68 |
RNC | 41 | – | – |
LCK | 41 | – | – |
Location: Must be crafted after finishing the Secret of the Sands Favor in Alfheim.
Most of the gameplay comes down to your approach to the game, if you prefer to perform more dodges and parries in the game, Then the Radiance Armor set will greatly benefit your playstyle, and the Slow-down effect on the last dodges will feel tremendously good while giving you plenty of ways to tackle and focus on the enemies around in the hectic of a combat scenario.
The slow-down time on dodges can change the gameplay drastically if you are playing most of the game on blocking or parrying. The Radiance Armor is all about dodging and parrying, a good maneuver to have for the later game’s challenges. When it comes to early-game builds, Radiance Armor is not a bad option on the menu.
Nidavellir’s Finest Set (Recommended Highly for Early-Game)
Stats (Level 9) | Nidavellir’s Finest Plackart | Nidavellir’s Finest Arm Guards | Nidavellir’s Finest Waist Guard |
STR | 54 | 68 | – |
DEF | 95 | 26 | 94 |
VIT | 54 | 34 | 34 |
Location: You must complete the In Service of Asgard favor to craft the armor at the shop.
According to almost all the Ragnarok players, Nidavellir’s set is the best early-game armor set in the whole game. Some players liked it so much, they wore the armor to the end of the game. Once you get used to the set, you will find huge benefits from wearing it. Since all the armor can be upgraded to Level 9, taking the armor to the end of the game is feasible. Nidavellir’s set fairs extremely well against the enemies the game throws at you from the early stages.
What makes Nidavellir’s special? It’s the health boost players get after stun grabbing. Since stun grabbing is something you will be doing a lot in the game because of the unblockable attack, having Nidavellir’s set will help you immensely in the battle. The lower Stun bar drain will play out a lot in the battle. That is one of the reasons why people who wore the Nidavellir armor set tend to keep at least one part of it while switching the rest with other sets.
Lúnda’s Armor
Stats (Level 9) | Lúnda’s Breastplate | Lúnda’s Gauntlets | Lúnda’s Lost Belt |
STR | 68 | 77 | – |
DEF | 54 | – | 77 |
RNC | 27 | 17 | 17 |
LCK | 54 | 34 | 34 |
Location: You will have to complete ‘The Mysterious Orb’ Favor by restoring broken armor pieces from Pilgrim’s Landing, Noatun’s Garden, and Cliffside Ruins.
Here we are walking on the thin blue line between early-game and mid-game territory, nevertheless, Lundas Armor is a fan favorite, a perfect set for difficult boss fights. The highlight of the Lunda’s Armor lies in the poison buff to unarmed strikes, parries, and shield strikes. Once you add on the Gauntlet and Belt of Lundas, then attack damage on poisoned enemies will increase. Many players do stick with Lundas Armor to the end, we can see why many choose to do it this way.
If you are playing the game on normal or easier difficulties, you might not see any benefit from the Lundas Armor, but the second you crank up the difficulty, you can feel the damage it can do to the toughest boss in the game. But if you are having trouble in the early-game enemy encounters, then you can just go for the Lundas to make things easier. Like in many games, adding poison buff is a diabolical move that pays off over time. Lundas is the best option, it can even take you to the end game easily.

If you are looking for a way to build the best Runic build in Ragnarok, you can’t go wrong with the Giptumadr’s set. The incredible amount of bonus for Strength, Defence, Runic, and Luck will make it worth your time. Besides that stats bonus, the highlight of the Giptumadr’s set lies in its ability – Fortune’s Refresh. Which will allow you to recover 70% of Runic attacks or Relic’s cooldown after using it once.

Many players do count the Giptumadr’s set to have the best bonus out of everything. We can see why that is the case for most of them, the relic power for a small amount of time is appealing.
The Steinbjorn Armor Set (Recommended Highly for Mid-Game & End Game)
Stats (Level 9) | Steinbjorn Plackart | Steinbjorn Gauntlets | Steinbjorn Waist Guard |

If you want to play God of War Ragnarok as a full tank, all points dedicated to defense, you can pick the Steinbjorn set. The highlight of the set is the amount of defense points it has to offer, a whooping 394 (upgraded). That’s not a small number, you can live the MMO dream of entering a fight and taking the attacks without flinching.
The perk Plackart’s Bloodthirsty Retaliation skill allows you to restore health for 5 seconds after taking heavy damage to the armor. The armor does look like the Havel armor from the Dark Souls, it’s made of stones and the looks do match the defense stat of the armor. Kratos will also receive a defensive bonus after taking a hit.
The Steinbjorn set is the complete opposite of the Berserker armor set in the game, whereas Berserker armor focuses on blind offense power, Steinbjorn armor set moves in the other direction by giving the player the best defense in the entire game. You can reach the end game with the armor, make sure to mix it up with other armor to get some offensive touch.
Raven Tears Armor Set
Stats (Level 9) | Raven Tears Cuirass | Raven Tears Bracers | Raven Tears Girdle |

The hardest thing about the armor is how to get it, you will have to kill 18 ravens to get the entire Raven Tear Armorset.
To make it a bit easier, the game has around 48 ravens throughout the game, you will have to lay down only 18 of them to get the entire set. Killing 18 will and you the Raven Tears set, but if you clean all 48 ravens in the game, you will get 3 heavy runic abilities. (Thamur, Slam, Ruin Heavy Runic Abilities)

This armor is a straight gambling choice, you will receive the bonus to deal some heavy amount of damage but at the same time, you will receive a lot in return. The risk-reward setting of the Bersker armor rewards a perfect play and breaks the confidence of anyone who hasn’t learned the ropes of the game yet.
The ancient golden color appearance of the armor will win your heart when you first glance at the design of the armor but the true highlight here is Soulless Warrior Perk allowing Krators to deal a heavy amount of damage after relic use.
This one ain’t easy to obtain, the armor is hiding behind some of the powerful bosses in the game. You will have to get your hand bloody to get the armor in your possession.
Dragon Armor Set (Recommended Highly for End-Game)

Dragon Scaled Breastplate – Dragon Claw x1, Dragon Tooth x2
Dragon Scaled Bracers – Dragon Tooth x10
Dragon Scaled Girdle – Dragon Tooth x10
A great armor that has a good balance between strength and defense, and you will get a good boost to Strength and defense every time Kratos blocks or parries an attack. The best thing about this ability, the numbers here stack until Kratos takes a hit. Dragon Armor also serves as a good parry armor, as the other perk Dragon’s Rebuke raises the shield damage by 50% and adds shield damage to parry.
Another reason why you should pick this armor is the plain aesthetic, it looks amazing on the battlefield. If you rarely find yourself using any relic, runes, or any effect during the gameplay, then Dragon Armor is what you need, some players do prefer the blocking and parrying to be the bread and the butter for their gameplay. Dragon Armor rewards this style of gameplay with bonuses.
Now you can mix each one of them to create a build that suits your playstyle, having more armor in your possession allows you to customize them further to suit your play pattern. The variety of builds you can craft out of the armor listed above can be fun and exciting. While you can look for the builds on the internet, we recommend you try your build that benefits your playstyle.
